By the way, in Australia, each city/town does not have its own police force like is the case in the USA and many other countries. We have the various state police forces plus the Australian Federal Police.

Oh wow, thats awesome. :) yes, a good way is to find a picture on your computers desktop, then go to imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us/). Fro mthere, it lets you choose the file you want from your desktop. Click the photo you want then let it upload, and wait. Tiem varies for computer speeds, usually takes a minute or less to upload. From there it gives you a bunch of links to post the photo with. Choose the links that say [IMG] on them. Choose one and post the link here so we can see it. :)


The reason I started this thread is because I like police cars and the great people who serve. I started my own police magazine awhile back and got pictures from many cities and interviews with police officers. One of the most exciting was with two officers in Anchorage, Alaska. :)

Edit: My bad, the car on the second picture belongs to the Koninklijke Marechaussee, which is a police force with military status that carries out special tasks for several Ministries. Actually I think it's similar to France's Gendarmerie Nationale. I'll leave it up anyway should anyone be interested.

- The text on the rear door is reversed

Btw, can someone explain me what defines whether the german police cars are green or blue? it seems there is no difference, so is that something different from every Landern? Or simply that the green is being replaced slowly by the blue?

I'm reasonably sure that green, having been the traditional color, is being replaced by blue, as required by newer EU regulations.

EDIT: Confirmed that it belongs to the police. The car in pic has KP (Kolkata Police) sticker on the bonnet and also has QRT written above windshield which means Quick Reaction Team.

In Germany, the police is a duty of the federal states. Hence, there exist 16 state polices (plus a federal police, the Bundespolizei). As said before, most state polices and the federal police switched to blue in the last few years (in order to be in line with most of the other European polices). Most did renew their uniforms as well (some with kind of strange designs like US-style hats, etc.) However, there are still a few polices which didn't switch yet and don't plan to do so either - Bavaria being the most prominent one.

Literally, over 90% of their sales were for use as police cars and taxis. They quit selling to the public and became a fleet-only vehicle in 2008. Come to America, there's an 80% chance the first police car you see will be one (the other 20% is most likely a Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala or some SUV)

There have also been rumors that some police departments like them so much because of their ridiculous reliability that they're stockpiling bunches of them for future use because the factory where they're built is going to be closed this month. Ford's new Police Interceptor (that's what they called the police version) will be based on the Taurus, which is a new design that hasn't had time to prove its reliability (or lack thereof).

Dutch Police will from now on use Volkswagen vehicles exclusively.
