I once read that the Israeli ministry of transport was asking that Morocco (Royal Air Maroc) establish direct flights with Israel because of the important number of Moroccan Jews that would like to visit Morocco; especially during religious holdiays.
Most of them have to go through Italy or France; and then go to Morocco.
It is undeniably a loss of revenue and activity for the RAM in the period of intense/fierce competition; now is that a sufficient argument for establishing direct flights?
Personally, I think they should. I believe that Mauritania has direct flights, but it is also the sole Arab country that has it.
What would you think?

Interesting, I didnt know that. Im not sure whether it would have opened the routes even without the incident. The incident definitely changed the plans, and will further delay it.
I think that while the government would not be hostile to it, the Arab opinion would dissuade Morocco from doing so; especially given that the king is president of the Jerusalem commitee.
But again, maybe its a way to show the route for other states, in other to normalize the relationship with Israel.
I think that the government should push for the project. I wonder what are the high seasons (when do Israelis visit Morocco the most-- when are the Moroccan Jewish holidays.
Perhaps they could just have charter planes during these periods.
