Is Air Canada expanding service to Dubai and onwards to Karachi, Pakistan.

I read on the airwise forums that an agreement has been reached between Canada and UAE to allow Emirates to serve Toronto 3 times a week, AC to serve Dubai 3 times a week.

I am not sure if this is true ? The traffic is defintely there.

Ittihad airways is serving TO/ABUDHABI currently, 3 times a week and are booked solid months in advance. Pakistan International has 3 times a week service from Toronto to Pakistan with the Toronto/Karachi flight being direct (14 hours flight).

Does AC even have the equipment to fly nonstop to Dubai? The A345s are now flying the Hong Kong route and they only have 2 aircraft.

AC should definitely fly to that region of the world - it will show that terror will not stop the expansion of the airlines.

Where did you read about this? I checked the Goverment of Canada website and did not find anything. Can you post the link? Would love to check it out.

Air Canada already has direct, non-stop flights to New Delhi, so this is a possibility

AC is flying to New Delhi via Zurich using their old 767s. Meanwhile, the Middle Eastern carriers are flying brand new jets with PTVs. I think AC will have some serious competition if they try to fly to the Middle East, and tie up aircraft to do the long flight with a stopover.

Don't forget, AC have bought new planes, which should be delivered in 2007 with new interior. So AC will have a good go at the middle eastern carriers.

I thought the flights from Toronto to Pakistan was via Birmingham, UK? I couldn't find anything about Dubai/Emirates either!

Via Manchester, But since PIA bought new B777 they have one direct flight from Toronto to Karachi but the seats are hard to find. Its a sunday flight.

Unfortunately Business People in Canada cant look beyound USA for new sources of revenue.
No wonder other new Airlines like Etihaad are taking the market away from Air Canada.
