View Full Version : Which buildings should be renovated?
KJBrissy August 18th, 2006, 09:16 AM What do you think will be the next renovated highrise in Brisbane. There are many to choose from, but personally the next I think would be 444 Queen due to it's proximity to new big towers. I surely hope some of the Government buildings like capital hill and the executive building but I wont be holding my breath.
Any others??
neilo63 August 18th, 2006, 09:23 AM 85% of QUT Gardens Point with 50% demolished and started again.
Crimson August 18th, 2006, 10:11 AM Transit Centre, no explanation needed.
SoulvisionQ1 August 18th, 2006, 10:23 AM Transit centres just need to be rebuilt. I think the Hitachi building! that area is becoming denser...
SEQ92 August 18th, 2006, 10:57 AM also the Suncorp Metway building near City Hall
NewUrban August 18th, 2006, 11:04 AM Suncorp Building (with the clock)
The Elizabeth Street Myer Centre frontage, perhaps knock out that entire wall
Elizabeth Street Arcade, I think they should knock the roof out and make it a lane
Transit Centre
nagelixin August 18th, 2006, 11:09 AM ^^ Suncorp Plaza is being refurbished in 2007.
The Hilton and Sofitel Hotels need external refurbishments.
NewUrban August 18th, 2006, 11:18 AM ^^ I cannot believe I forgot the hotels! But yes, they are in desperate need.
Biala also needs to be externally renovated or demolished ASAP. It is the government community health centre, just opposite the Transit Centre. I cannot find a photo right now, but it is brown and sure sticks out.
(Thank God Suncorp is being renovated)
brissieroy August 18th, 2006, 11:21 AM Westpac building next to Post Office square.. :)

If 444 Queen is the Medibank Private building next to Aurora then i reckon that is number one priority given its aspect from the river.

As for L block at QUT, it will be replaced in a few years anyway.
And most of QUT isn't ugly. Only L, C and V blocks are horrible. The rest are all either (fairly) new or are from the early 1900s.
Locke August 19th, 2006, 04:10 AM Mineral House. It looks like it was designed by Stevie Wonder.
