I thought it would be neat to compare similar buildings in Toronto. They could be proposed, approved, U/C, completed, vision or cancelled.
This one called 'Pure Spirit' looks like a cross between Spire and 18 Yorkville.

Pure Spirit is going to be a godsend for the Distillery District.. the more residential they can get around there, the better. I am surprised how fast it is all coming together:

^ Call me NIMBY on this one but why do we need a glass tower hanging over such an historic area in the Distillery?

^^^^^^ I agree. I might be able to handle the size if the building had a design that blends in with the district.

It'll look fine. a mix of new and old. and really, you can't stop the devolopment, as it eventually will have to start to creep up on the area. granted, I'd have prefered something like the Uptown down there, but meh.

Eerie! A lot of apartment buildings look alike aroud the city. I guesss that just the same developer/owner, and era. Same goes for a lot of the glass condos.

Fair question, but I believe that a development beside the Distillery area will
be nothing but helpful. In a modern, developed city like Toronto there is a place for contemporary buildings being built beside historic. In this case this mid-height condo will supply a huge amount of desperately needed traffic to the site. The Distillery District is not a museum, but rather a living, breathing part of our community. Traditionally, this site was sort of like Old Fort York... stuck out in the middle of no-where. The Distillery District is quite a defined and self-contained little area (you really notice this when you are inside). Had they proposed a condo in the middle of it I would have objected.... but outside the actual complex I have no problem. In much the same way I was in favour of the condo beside the ROM.

Pure Spirit, Spire, and 18 Yorkville were all designed by Peter Clewes.
