I think this one looks better than Aldana. But from the render, it looks 'short'. It looks like a 100m or something. But it is very wider. I would look much better if it were taller...

True... Obviously, the people working at Qatari Diar and such companies have no idea whatsoever about anything called media, press-releases, internet...etc They just keep the info to themselves :D

A growing country like Qatar should be relying more in promotin their projects by all kinds of ads! in that way they could attract more projects for the country as well as letting businesses grow in the country... It does affect when ads dont take place.. some people still dont know about the Pearl island!!! I've heard than from few people... as for The World-Dubai or other project... everyone knows about it...
I think we should open the eyes of those companies working on projects.. because we are part of the public.. and if we are feeling that.. for sure the other part doesnt know a thing about what's up in Qatar...

You cant compare Dubai to Doha. There are books printing in foreign languages distributed thoughout the world about Dubai. I have seen them in trainstations around small cities in Germany last year and in even in New York. The best billboard currently in Qatar is the Dubai Towers Doha, and guess what its not even Qatari-made or concieved!

But after translating the German to English (using google), it says that the 'Operating Time Area' is 2004. So, it is supposed to be under-construction now!

Too bad it looked good had it been built. Maybe its one of those top-secret projects they are announcing every now and then.

The site also says it was worked on for a competition, in collaboration with SIAT (another German architect, who did Qipco Office Tower in Qatar, a tower that has many common patterns with those twin towers..maybe a recuperation?)

i agree that Dubai is getting way more attention than Doha, but Dubai can never beat Qatar foundation and all those universities that Sheikhah mouza “god bless her” getting into the country. i live in Dubai and they don’t have one good international stadium, in the other hand, Doha does and its so amazing how Qatar is building its reputation and locating it self on the map using knowledgably things such as sports and education unlike Dubai through clubs and prostitution

And yeah Al Nasr tower are still standing. One of the pics I posted before, was a zoomed pic of the workers 'obviously' fixing the tower. I really had no idea what they were doing... But it seemed like they were fixing it! :D

Well, everytime i pass by, I see few workers in the construction site... I think they are not rushing on it.. well, who knows what's going on.. how nice the towers were :(

That is so true. A guy in DC this summer told me the exact same thing. But, I was refering to Qatar being known as a purely known tourist destination. For example, a taxi driver in DC last month asked where I was from. When I told him Qatar, he immediately asked me about the companies here--and said that he wanted to work in Q-Tel or another Qatari company because he heard so much about it. The American base in Qatar also greatly made people aware. I dont want to get much off topic--but that is the case.

My bet is that there will be a resort on that island consisting of chalets and water bungalows-- similar to the Maldives islands.

Halawala! sorry for not replying earlier.. i missed out your question.. but yes! the towers are getting completed and as u go back to their render, there is a tower taller than the other.. they stopped working on one and getting the other one taller a bit! i will take some shots inshalah today, and show the glasses on it! But u know something? I thought this hotel was gona be functional in the Asian Games.. I guess I was mistaken :(

ZX, the parking spaces in New York is all electronically operated, and all the cars are confined which fit the space exactly--one on top of the other. THere is literally no space to walk between them. Just press the button, and your car will come automatically to the front of the car park.

You're prolly right. After some looking at the pic, I noticed that the tower comes right at the end of City Centre. So, it's probably one of the City Centre towers :D

أعلنت الشركة القطرية لتبريد المناطق (قطر كوول) إحدي الشركات التابعة للشركة المتحدة للتنمية التي تعتبر من
شركاتالمساهمة الرائدة في القطاع الخاص في دولة قطر، أنها بدأت تشغيل أول محطة لنظام تبريد المناطق في قطر، وبطاقة إنتاجية تبلغ 30 ألف طن من المياه المبردة. وسوف تقوم هذه المحطة بتزويد عدد من الأبراج السكنية والمكتبية بمنطقة الخليج الغربي بهذا النظام الجديد في التبريد.

وتستخدم "قطر كوول" آخر ما توصلت إليه التكنولوجيا في تطبيق نظام تبريد المناطق، وذلك من خلال توفير المياه المبردة ونقلها عبر خط أنابيب تحت الأرض وبطول 30 كيلومتراً علي امتداد منطقة الخليج الغربي، لتغذي بها الأبراج المكتبية والأبراج السكنية، والفنادق، وهي عملية دقيقة ومحكمة.

ووصف المسؤولون في "قطر كوول" هذا النظام في تبريد المناطق بأنه يعتبر من أكثر أنظمة التبريد في العالم توفيراً للطاقة، وأكثرها هدوءً وحماية للبيئة، واقلها تكلفة.

وفي معرض تعليقه علي هذا الإنجاز، قال السيد عمر الفردان، رئيس مجلس إدارة "قطر كوول" " هذا يوم هام بالنسبة لنا جميعاً، لأننا نهتم بحماية البيئة في الوقت الذي نقوم فيه بتقديم خدمة تبريد هاديء وبمستوي تقنية عالية".

واستمر قائلاً:" إن الفوائد الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والبيئية لهذا النظام الذي تستخدم فيه تقنية متطورة، هي فوائد عظيمة ، ونحن سعداء بأن نكون الرواد في تطبيق هذا النظام في دولة قطر".

ويشار إلي أن "قطر كوول" تقوم بتزويد الأبراج المخصصة لإقامة ضيوف دورة الألعاب الآسيوية "الآسياد" التي تنظمها الدوحة، بنظام تبريد المناطق، وقد أوفت بالتزاماتها بهذا الشأن بالكامل.

الجدير بالذكر أن نظام تبريد المناطق يتمتع بالكثير من المميزات الهامة مقارنة بنظام التبريد التقليدي المعروف. إذ يعمل علي تخفيض تكلفة استهلاك الكهرباء علي نحو كبير، إضافة إلي أنه لو تم تعميم هذا النظام وتطبيقه في أنحاء الدولة فسوف ينتج عن ذلك توفير هائل في استهلاك الطاقة الكهربائية.

ويوضح السيد "شاهسوفار شاهسوفاروغلو"، المدير العام لقطر كوول، محاسن تطبيق هذا النظام في التبريد قائلاً بأنه :" سوف يخفض من معدل استهلاك الكهرباء بنسبة تتراوح ما بين 40 إلي 50 في المائة، ويقلل من تكلفة الاستثمار الأولية، ومن استخدام الكبلات المعلقة، إضافة إلي توفير مساحة يمكن الاستفادة منها علي نحو أفضل، بحيث تؤدي إلي الاستخدام الأمثل للموارد".

وأضاف بأن: "قطر كوول تعمل في الوقت الراهن، علي إقامة محطة ثانية لإنتاج كمية إضافية من المياه المبردة تقدر بنحو 37 ألف طن، وهي من ضمن سلسلة أخري من المحطات التي تخطط الشركة لإنشائها في المستقبل القريب ".

وفي هذا الإطار أكد المسؤولون في كل من الشركة المتحدة للتنمية و قطر كوول، التزامهم واهتمامهم باستخدام تقنيات تصب في اتجاه المحافظة علي سلامة ونظافة البيئة في قطر، وعزوا ذلك الالتزام والاهتمام إلي المؤازرة والدعم المتواصل من القيادة الرشيدة لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني، أمير البلاد المفدي، وولي عهده الأمين ، حفظهما الله ، فبفضل القيادة الحكيمة تتجه دولة قطر إلي تحقيق طفرة اقتصادية هائلة.

وقال الفردان، وهو أيضاً عضو في مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية:" يعتبر افتتاح هذه المحطة معلماً جديداً وهاماً للشركة المتحدة للتنمية، يجعلنا نشعر بالفخر والاعتزاز".

ومضي إلي القول:" إن أحد مرتكزاتنا الرئيسية التي نسعي إلي تحقيقها دائماً، هو أن نقدم القيمة العالية للمساهمين وللشركاء. ونؤكد اليوم علي إمكانية وأهمية الاستثمار في بيئتنا المستقبلية".

واستمر قائلاً :" إن استثمار الشركة المتحدة للتنمية في "قطر كوول" يعتبر استثماراً ناجحاً آخر يضاف إلي محفظة استثماراتها الأخري الفريدة، ولكن ما يميز "قطر كوول" هو أنه استثمار لخلق بيئة نظيفة وبيئة افضل ليجني ثماره أطفالنا في المستقبل. وهذا ما يجب أن يدفعنا جميعاً للعمل علي تحقيقه".

وثمن عدد من المسؤولين في كل من الشركة المتحدة للتنمية وقطر كوول، الجهود التي بذلت من قبل الجميع، وقالوا بأن بدء تشغيل هذه المحطة جاء نتاجاً للجهد الجماعي، من المساهمين والإداريين والمستشارين. وتقدموا بالشكر والتقدير لمشاركة المسؤولين من المجلس الأعلي للبيئة والموارد الطبيعية، وكهرماء، واشغال، والهيئة العامة للتخطيط والتطويرالعمراني، ووزارة الشئون البلدية والزراعة، وشركة تبريد الإماراتية، وللدعم المستمر الذي بدونه لم يكن لهذا الإنجاز أن يتحقق.

وتبلغ مساهمة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، التي تحتل مكانة مرموقة ضمن لائحة الشركات المائة الكبري في الخليج، في الشركة القطرية لتبريد المناطق نسبة 51% من إجمالي الأسهم، وتعتبر القوة الرئيسية الدافعة لهذه الشركة المعروفة باسم "قطر كوول".

في عام 2003 ، حددت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية الاستثمار في مجال تبريد المناطق، باعتباره من الخدمات الهامة والفريدة لدولة قطر. وأن الاستثمار في هذا المجال سوف يؤدي إلي تقليل الطلب علي الطاقة المستخدمة في تكييف الهواء. وقد أتاح الطلب العالي لتكييف الهواء في قطر، مع الحاجة إلي ترشيد الاستهلاك في الطاقة الكهربائية، والحلول الصديقة للبيئة، فرصة استثمارية طويلة الأجل للشركة المتحدة للتنمية تتوافق مع رؤيتها وتتفق مع توجهاتها الاستثمارية.

تأسست قطر كوول برأس مال أولي قدره 30 مليون ريال قطري، ويبلغ رأسمالها حالياً 300 مليون ريال قطري. وقد تم تسجيل الشركة رسمياً في يناير 2004 كشركة مساهمة بين الشركة المتحدة للتنمية (51%)، والشركة الوطنية للتبريد المركزي(تبريد) الإماراتية بنسبة 44% ومستثمرون قطريون بنسبة 5% من إجمالي الأسهم.

وتجدر الإشارة إلي أن شركة تبريد الإماراتية مدرجة في سوق الأوراق المالية في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وتعتبر الشركة الرائدة في مجال تبريد المناطق في العالم.

1. Its just a covering of Aluminium Cladding to protect it from any damage during installation.
2. Well this is not a stupid question .... its a typical process ... infact u need a mobile crane for the installation of Tower Crane.... if u would like to see .. i can take u to site .... but its difficult to describe it here:)

Q3 why dont we make a thread for this ?

Q1 wats th use of the qatarcool project ?
Ans: Its a latest technique called district cooling ... you supply cooling to big towers and complexes from one station instead of installing chiller plants for all buildings seperately.
like city center is having its on cooling system ... but now almost all the towers in West Bay will get cooling from Qatar Cool Plants...well its old in Abu Dhabi / Dubai... but new here in Qatar.

Q2 why is th second plant in westbay ?
Ans: Adjacent to 44 storey building ... i posted the pic earlier.

Q3 why dont we make a thread for this?
Ans: its upto u .. we can make a new thread for this .... as in future we will have more plants in Doha .... one is in Pearl as well ... which is quite big.

About the last tower... I really dunno its name too. I remember taking a pic of it during the summer without knowing its name but forgot to ask about it later on.

By the way, I've been told that a new 'traditional' cafe located on a terrace opened in the Souq area. Anyone heard about this?
