Residents of LA,
1. How long is your commute?
2. How do you commute to your workplace? (vote on the poll)

my commute is 20 to 30 minutes by bus between school and apt during weekdays.

i take the subways and lightrails if i ever decide to do things on my own time. i'm usually on those from 5 to 20 minutes (between union station/downtown, downtown/hollywood, union station/chinatown).

i drive a car alone probably once every 1 or 2 months. i carpool every week or two.

mostly i'm in a bus, but i really favor any rail over anything. i've only taken amtrak once in my whole life. their routes seem to be just fine, but faster would be nicer.

I take two trains and two buses, it would seem like a hassle but I have my iPod so I'm never really bored. I'd say my commute is about an hour though.

My current commute is against traffic during the "off" hours so to get 15 miles it takes about 20 minutes on the 405. When I worked in city hall and my commute was during regular business hours to travel 11 miles could take about an hour/hour and a half on the 110.

probably 60 miles in one direction!! wow...

your reason for doing this better not be that you think living in LA is ghetto and crime-ridden.

There's an average of two people in the car, usually. If I'm going alone to school, I'll take the bus. If there was a train that went there, I'd take it.

i went from garden grove to LAX during rush hour before and my god i hope i never have to do that again. i dont remember how long it took but it was well over 90 min. i would have used the John Wayne Airport but i found a lot cheaper tickets at LAX.

I used to commute from Downtown Los Angeles to South Orange County (Mission Viejo) - 60 miles each direction! THATS TWO HOURS EACH WAY IN TRAFFIC!!! FOR SIX MONTHS

Now, I live in downtown Los Angeles in the old bank district and I walk 6 block to work in the financial district. 10 minutes on foot!! Yes, people do walk in LA!!

^^ but it's also just to work. if he wanted on his own time, i'm sure he could see stuff on his way to disneyland or wherever. bonus, actually, because that's 2 extra hours for family and sleep time :)

I think I had angina from commuting on the 405 -- from the LA/Orange county border to Ventura/LA county border.

I'm unemployed and I drive daily all over the city. My usual commute is Westchester-Tarzana via 405/101 and you know that's a mission no matter what time you drive.
