Wu-Gambino May 10th, 2003, 07:43 AM 8.5/10, I have always loved this for some reason. It is a nice, clean skyscrapers that would look great in a Northwestern city like Seattle or Portland.
renell May 10th, 2003, 11:30 AM 5.5 the box doesn't really lower the points in the white in the facade
SteelCity32 May 10th, 2003, 05:50 PM It's a box...I don't care for it...5/10
Evergrey May 10th, 2003, 08:06 PM 1.5/10
It looks like a big stack of crates
It really makes Milwaukee's skyline look unbalanced as well
This building reminds me of Buffalo's ugly HSBC
BGT May 10th, 2003, 08:40 PM 8.5/10 I love the design. I like white boxes!
Here are my pics.

Someone change the channel please.
MSPtoMKE May 14th, 2003, 03:48 AM I gave it a 7.
Get rid of the ugly billboards at the top and it would be better! At night, you can barely read the new USbank sign, even though it is lit up.
Yep, it is featured in my avatar, but i like the building in front of it a better :)

man from Oshkosh May 14th, 2003, 05:26 AM I give US Bank Center an 8/10. There is nothing stunning about this tower but it does stand out as to what Milwaukee is like, nothing flashy but realiable which is what Milwaukee is about anyway.
djcody May 14th, 2003, 06:55 AM 8.5, thank you SOM
X-seed 4000 May 14th, 2003, 10:41 AM Ugh... 4.0/10. Not a good building.
MiL-TowN May 15th, 2003, 07:13 PM The people rating it low are the people who either 1. Don't like boxes or 2. Haven't seen enough of it to really get a feel for it and maybe actually start to like it.
Oh yeah, in real life it looks much better.
8.5/10

C'mon... it's really a giant eyesore... and hides the truly beautiful buildings from the lakefront

All buildings hide other bulildings from certain angles whenever there are other buildings around (as does the topography, which is a concern with Downtown Milwaukee--it's not flat at all, which gives the illusion that some of the buildings on lower ground are much shorter than they really are). Thus if you move around, you can easily see the other stuff.
While I don't usually much care for stuff done in this Modernsit/International Style, I do like Milwaukee's USBank Building. The diagonal bracing in the middle and on the top of the tower save it from being just an ordinary box. The backlit signs at the very top of the tower wreck the effect up there--and I was disappointed when those went up back in 1999.
The problem I do have with this building is with its base (not really pictured here) and how in meets the street level--no consideration was given to this at all in the design, and it's a very uninviting place to be, especially on the Wisconsin Avenue side (which is where the "front door" is).
Paule May 16th, 2003, 05:54 PM LOL at Markitect! Always the thinker! I agree, the base is very uninviting.
I have always loved this building. I love it's whiteness, it's boxyness, and it's dominance. It is one handsome building that I think makes it great. I rated it a 8.0. It's an original!
Chad May 17th, 2003, 07:42 AM Rises in a perfectly rectangle square, US Bank Center represent one of SOM's best 70's work. White color support-beam column makes a very original-own identity for thsi building. Instead of hiding half-X brace column inside, SOM puts them outside of the facade even makes it looks stronger and nicer......9/10

I've always loved the color contrast used in this building. And the fact that it's done well. Granted, black on white has been done before, but rarely with such crisp clarity. The facade is very eye-catching. Oddly enough this building, while void of any contextual ties to its surroundings, fits in very nicely.
Had the shorter, slightly more interesting accompanying tower been built in the late 80's, the "unbalancing effect" would have been softened.
The Messiah May 18th, 2003, 10:06 PM Man,those billboards have got to leave!
Well it looks allright though 6.5/10

Why is it that this building is 601 ft. When for a long time it was 625 ft.?
miltown July 20th, 2005, 10:47 PM being from milwaukee i think this is terrible that this is the tallest building. A big rectangle no interesting shape or design. Maybe if it was shorter and blended in behind some taller buildings but nope it just sticks out like a big white thumb.
40748246 July 21st, 2005, 05:06 AM The height is fine, it just needs more buildings near it the same height or slightly heigher. The city is lacking skyscrapers, that is why it sticks out so much.
miltown July 21st, 2005, 06:16 AM that is true
ChrisLifeStyle July 21st, 2005, 09:01 AM 5/10 :(
i_am_hydrogen July 23rd, 2005, 08:33 AM The design is clean and has a slightly understated sophistication to it. The base is awful, though. No attention whatsoever was given to its interaction with street-level.
