Hilton opens its first ever palace hotel - ‘Qasr Al Sharq’ In Jeddah

http://www.strategiy.com/news/20060820110023/Journalists-at-Qasr-Al-Sharq.JPG

the first 7 star hotel in ksa and there is only 2 .7 star hotel in middle east qasr alemarat palace and qasr alsharg palace :)

Hilton International’s first ever palace hotel, ‘Qasr Al Sharq’ or ‘Palace of the Orient’ is now open, promising discerning travellers unparalleled luxury, lavish interiors, Arabian hospitality and the latest cutting-edge technology.

Conveniently located adjacent to the Jeddah Hilton, the 46 all-suite premier property is set to re-define the booming tourism and hospitality sectors in Saudi Arabia, with a host of first-ever services and amenities such as the largest guest suites in the region, a unique personalised butler service and exceptionally opulent interior design of a most spectacular calibre, to name a few.

“With the government actively promoting domestic tourism, the opening of Qasr Al Sharq comes at an opportune time. We believe that Qasr Al Sharq will play a significant role in shaping the future of high-end tourism in KSA,” said Marc de Beer, Manager of Qasr Al Sharq. “Qasr Al Sharq will offer seasoned travellers, who know exactly what they want, the highest standards of luxury and sheer exclusivity. We believe that Saudi nationals will account for 95 per cent of all our guests,” added de Beer.

Qasr Al Sharq will offer guests a dreams-come-true lodging experience set in the heart of Arabia. Facing the Red Sea on the main Corniche, the palace is a nine-storey triangular shaped granite building with oriental architectural design. The palace comprises of two palace suites - each covering half a floor with two master bedrooms, a private sitting room, a large formal majlis, large dining room and kitchen, and a private health club that includes a gym, sauna and Jacuzzi - in addition to eight Royal Suites, 12 Executive Suites and 24 Junior Suites all of which are fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology for audio-visual equipment, WiFi internet access and automated controls for lighting, curtains, temperature control and refreshment centres.

Exclusivity Redefined:

At Qasr Al Sharq, the lavish hospitality experience starts even before guests make it through the Palace gates as they are introduced to a unique world of exclusivity the moment they land. Luggage retrieval and airport transfer via a luxury limousine driven by specially trained chauffeurs, ensures that every minute detail of their stay is taken care of. A professionally trained staff of 17 butlers ensures that each and every individual need and request is fully met, and that accommodations are kept in immaculate condition, 24 hours a day.

“Our guests will be among the most discerning. Their needs will run the gamut of high tech solutions for global communications and conferencing, to dietary needs, to strictest privacy and security arrangements, and an entire array of individual considerations and preferences. This hotel is a palace, and it will be run as one; the service is not comparable to a hotel stay. The personal butler and round-the-clock housekeeping and dining services are all integral parts of any guest experience at Qasr Al Sharq,” explained de Beer.

Interiors: Lavish and refined

Saudi Arabia’s first palace hotel is an authentic Arabian palace of unparalleled luxury, representative of the opulence and hospitality that is historical Arabia. Interior designers spent an extensive time researching Arabesque designs and working to blend colour and textures created specially for Qasr Al Sharq, so that guests are completely enveloped in a rich sensory experience.

The palace’s decorative ceilings boast 60Kg of gold leaf, which took six months to painstakingly apply. A show-stopping Swarovski chandelier graces the main staircase, with 600,000 crystals chained together, gilded in 24 carat gold and sparkling with 260 lights. Countless types and colours of marble were handpicked from around the world to create the mosaic-inspired flooring.

The entire project was conceived as a turnkey project from initial design stage through to the final construction, furnishing and decoration, by Haif Company in Riyadh.

Dining: Indulge the Senses

Bice, the world-renowned elegant Italian restaurant serves traditional Italian food. Located on the second floor overlooking the Red Sea, it accommodates 96 seats with a private dining room for 12 guests.

Guests can experience the best of Middle Eastern cuisine at Mataam Al Sharq Oriental restaurant, served in a sumptuous setting. Located on the second floor, and overlooking the Red Sea, it has 100 seats with private dining facilities available for 10 to 30 guests. Both Mataam Al Sharq and Bice are open for lunch and dinner.

“It is our aim to establish the Palace as well as the Restaurants as the best in their fields. Levels of service at the palace will be second to none, and will provide a benchmark for the industry, both within the Middle East and abroad,” concluded de Beer.

Can we get some shots of the building please? Is it the one on the corniche with a hole on top? If it is, then I'm not impressed. Well, the interior and nice and everything but they shouldn't really compare it with the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. That thing is a monument. I don't think there are many hotels in the world that can compare to it. Not even the burj al-arab in my opinion.

The one with the hole is the Rosewood Corniche Hotel. This hotel is next to the Hilton. It looks similar to it from the outside.

Yeah you're right...no one doubted that. Those pics are all over the net. I'm still disappointed. I was hoping for something grand structurally but I guess its not easy taking such big risks, especially as tourism from abroad is hardly encouraged (or allowed). Looking at all the land along the corniche makes me wish there was a coordinated effort to develop those parcels of land. Can you imagine how the city would look from the sea (or even from parts of Obhur I would imagine)? I don't know what they're doing now...some of these buildings are so ugly they shouldn't even be allowed to be built, at least not there.

Thanks for the link Hijazzey.

EXCELLENT pictures...thank you Saudi guy...

I saw the hilton a long time back and i was under the impression that the so-called 7-star part was just part of the hilton and not a separate 7-star section. It really doesn't look the part unfortunately. I mean, nothing against the people who like the hotel. I like the inside too but the outside is very ordinary.

Check out the first pic on this thread. Its not the best pic of emirates palace in abu dhabi but I love it cuz of the way it's setup with all the cars in front. Now that's a 7-star hotel.

Hey Guys, i've seen a lot of pictures for this hotel in some magazines. some were ads others were just talking about it. The furnishings are stunning. They had the same designer that did Burj Al-Arab, advise them on Qasr Al-Sharq, she's some Chinese lady, I can't recall her name right now. But, gohorns, the piture of Emirates palace was not taken by an amateur, its a marketing ploy, while the picture of Qasr Al-Sharq was taken by a regular camera by a regular guy (not to say that its not good, I really appreciate it). But what i'm saying is you can't compare throught pictures. I personally like the architecture inside and out, it remains loyal to the local architecture, which I appreciate, these days in the gulf its seems nothing is nice unless it replicates Dubai's false shiney glitz and glamour.

I like the outside too but...you know....*shrug* It's five-star for me...not the exclusive seven. The inside is probably upto scratch but I would like to see more pictures. :)

I have actually seen amateur pictures of Emirates palace and they are very impressive as well. In fact the reason I like it is because it doesn't replicate Dubai's tower frenzy and goes back to a classic design. It reminds me of the Taj Mahal, although I have never had the privilege of seeing either in person.

"Dubai's false shiny glitz and glamour" soo true...

TBH both Palace of East and Emirates Palace look kitsch and tacky to me. I'm not into that vegas style arabian nights look.

A hotel that I did like was the al-Husn in Muscat. I stayed there and was impressed. The Corniche hotel looks promising too (but I don't need a hotel in Jeddah).

There is one point we have to remember this is the first private 7 stars hotel in the region ,Burj Al Arab or emirate place are build by the Dubai and Abu Dubi government owned company to support the tourism in these city , while as we know Saudi government will never spend anything out side Riyadh and specially in Jeddah , so this is a truly the first fully privet 7 star hotels

EXCELLENT POINT!! :applause: I can't believe that never occured to me!! wow..

Okay now I have no complaints about this hotel and everything is starting to make sense. Obviously, a private investor would not go overboard and take the risks the governments would to promote the place. So, they made it good but at the same time calculated their move. Very impressive indeed!!

The cheapest one costs around SR. 500 - now that isn't "that" expensive considering the fact that 5-star hotels here in Pakistan now charge around 500-600 Riyals for the rooms that fall in the lowest category! And the hotels here are by no means anywhere near what this is!

Whatever peoples opinions are about the hotel's exterior, it was ranked among the world's top hotels be "Conde Nast Traveler" on their 2007 Hot LIst Hotels. Here is what they said....

Designed by the firm behind Dubai's Burj Al Arab and managed by the new Waldorf-Astoria Collection hotel chain, the all-suite Qasr Al Sharq feels like a sumptuous private residence. With scalloped archways, carved arabesques, and layers of brocade, it caters mainly to protocol-obsessed Arab royals and CEO types. Some of the 46 suites exceed 10,000 square feet; amenities include butlers, private gyms, massage tables, 16-seat dinner tables, flat-screen TVs wrapped in 24-karat gold leaf, and Swarovski crystal chandeliers dangling from the gold ceiling. Female travelers will want to stay here for the penthouse pleasures of the kingdom's first women-only hotel spa; scheduled to open this summer, this abaya-free zone will have an Aquamedic lap pool under a retractable glass roof. (Men can use the next-door Jeddah Hilton's no-women-allowed health club.) At Mataam Al Sharq, the excellent Middle Eastern restaurant, try the tiny roasted fig-birds (a type of oriole), eaten heads and all, with pomegranate sauce.
