JoSin September 5th, 2006, 06:44 AM Well I have decided to set up a thread on western areas of Singapore since most of you stay in the east and has not really seen much of the western parts of singapore.

hdb fan October 31st, 2006, 12:31 PM Hi all, juz discovered this thread afew days ago. I'm such a fan of buildings - private and especially hdb. Was pleasantly thrilled to see so many beautiful, clear, big pics. Especially those 40 storey hbd flats. A pity is it closed. I'm staying at clementi. One of those en bloc flats and will be getting a new 40 storey flat in 2010. Can't wait to move in. The interchange was shifted to the new location on 29/10/06 after a delay of almost 4 mths!! But the traffic condition both human and vehicle is so bad, traffic police had to be called in!! Hope to share some of my views on the buildings real soon. I hope to put in some pixs. I hope the administrator would seriously consider opening up the thread on 40 storey hdb flats... it's such a delight to see the progress.
RafflesCity November 1st, 2006, 02:06 AM There is a thread on construction updates for 40-storey hdb flats here:

TYW April 4th, 2007, 03:26 PM cool pics! i have no idea western Singapore looks like that. i thought there's only a huge cemetary there :D
Ozmander April 6th, 2007, 04:30 AM Thanks for the pictures! Very cool.
Will you have a chance to take pictures of the latest funky condo there - The Linear? Or is that outside the 'Western' area?
Cliff April 7th, 2007, 12:15 PM wow, huge collection of photos, I've been studying in the west for 2 years, and I see so much more in this thread!
ScaniaLuver April 7th, 2007, 05:51 PM Bukit Panjang sunrise as observed from my house.(Sorry for blur pic, taken using my handphone.)

ethanox April 29th, 2007, 05:34 PM nice photo of queenstown. i like the old hdb flats at queenstowns, commonwealth and tanglin halt areas, kind of made me feel like being back in time (70s?) when I there.
Pengui April 30th, 2007, 12:18 PM Thanks, and welcome to the forum :-)
RafflesCity April 30th, 2007, 12:21 PM ahh nice view from Redhill
looks like a mini Hong Kong in the making
ScaniaLuver May 10th, 2007, 04:09 PM Jurong East ... Near to bus interchange and MRT .
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l285/Jake_1990/P2030223.jpg
kurakura May 10th, 2007, 05:06 PM ^^ alot of open space around the MRT
Andrew May 11th, 2007, 05:36 PM Yeah, it would be good to see some decent high density development here with a strong 'city centre' feel. Jurong East is meant to be a regional centre afterall, the area around the MRT station feels strange - a major interchange in the middle of a field with a few high-rise buildings dotted around the place!
kurakura May 11th, 2007, 10:39 PM ^^ Dont u think Singapore West is more depressing than the East?
I mean the east has ECP, Geylang, the airport...
The west has nothing :ohno: and i stay in the west
RafflesCity May 12th, 2007, 04:54 AM The West has always struck me as being the industrial area...and always becoming more industrial the further west, but some attractions there are the Jurong BirdPark & the Chinese / Japanese Gardens.
But, seems that unlike the east, the western flank of Singapore can allow taller buildings, so there is more optimism for highrise watchers

More depressing for guy teens ! West has no chio bu !! All pretty teen girls lives in the east. West all ah lians one .
kurakura May 12th, 2007, 05:58 PM ^^ Exactly! All the SIA gals stay in tampines!!!:ohno:

I didn't get to know the East as well as I had hoped. Next time I come I'll explore more thoroughly.

JediAlf May 17th, 2007, 12:57 AM Yeah, it would be good to see some decent high density development here with a strong 'city centre' feel. This is right! Hahaha!
I think Govt is testing Tampines Regional Centre model first before applying to Jurong East and Woodlands (two regional centres marked by URA and Govt).
Jurong East will soon have cluster of high rise office buildings, higher than the ones in Woodlands and Tampines, given the proof of lonely JTC building hahaha.
kurakura May 17th, 2007, 07:14 PM singapore is so small...dunno y it needs regional centers:nuts:
