The donuts from Starbucks are so big but its delicious. I've tried the choco donuts. :eat:

im not certain if the first starbucks in mindanao will be in cdo, but what im more certain about is if the company decides to open a branch in cdo, the prime location would be limketkai center.

kung saka-sakaling may itatayo na Starbucks sa Mindanao siguradong sa Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro mas profitable kasi ang daming pumupunta doon sa mall at laging puno tapos Mixed-use dev't pa yung complex with soon to be constructed Luxury Hotels and High-rise Condominiums.:)

It may also be due to competitors such as Brown Cup, Bo's Coffee, Coffee Dream and Coffee Beanery to name a few. They have established their respective coffee shops even before Starbucks landed in Cebu.

This is good news! Is this for real? And I will not be surprised if they will be opening in areas like Banilad and Mactan.

A traditional Chinese cafe has opened up in Beijing's Forbidden City, replacing a Starbucks coffee shop that was forced to shut after protests.
The new cafe will serve both coffee and traditional Chinese tea, China's state media said.

The Starbucks outlet was forced to close in July, having long been accused of tarnishing the historical site.

The shop, which opened in 2000, sought to quell the protests two years ago by removing its distinctive signage.

But the move failed to satisfy its critics. An online campaign earlier this year led by a state television personality drew more than 500,000 signatures.

Top attraction

State media said the Forbidden City Cafe would be run by officials in charge of the site, and would feature traditional Chinese wooden furniture and paintings as well as beverages.

"We want to provide tourists with a package of products relating to the Imperial Palace and Chinese culture," Li Wenru, deputy curator of the Forbidden City, was quoted as saying.


Starbucks was accused of trampling on Chinese culture

The Forbidden City was built in 1420 and was home to 24 emperors until the end of imperial rule in 1911.

It attracted nearly nine million visitors last year, is China's top tourist attraction and a Unesco World Heritage site.

TV anchor Rui Chenggang, who led the campaign to shut down Starbucks, said its presence "undermined the solemnity of the Forbidden City and trampled on Chinese culture".

Seattle-based Starbucks had been told it could stay open if it sold other brands, but declined and said the decision had been "very congenial"..

Bai Div, my wife and I went to Starbucks Coffee Ayala 2 last Monday afternoon, it was their first day of business inside Ayala Center Cebu.

Anyway, I think that it's as small or smaller than the one in Crown Regency Hotel & Towers. The only difference is that, Starbucks Coffee Ayala 2 have a lot of chairs and tables outside the shop because of their secluded dead end location which is really cozy for the Starbucks Coffee patriots like most of the SSC Cebu peeps.

That's it!

Glenn Anthony O. Soco, one of Cebu’s, young entrepreneur, and finalist of the 2006 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, is one of the panelists on the Entrepreneur Conference on June 23, a module designed to share experiences, and motivate people to try their hand on business.
Glenn has founded and spearheaded several enterprises within his 11 years in business. The eldest son of 4 children of Guillermo and Adelina Soco, Glenn Anthony, started in business at the age of 21 by joining the family business right after his graduation from college. Backed with an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of San Carlos, he started by managing the family business, formerly, Mandaue Integrated Janitorial Services, a janitorial agency which was established by his parents in 1972. He expanded the business into providing Manpower Services under the new corporation, Mandaue Integrated Manpower Services, Inc. (MIMS Inc.). Under his management, he professionalized the company, implemented new systems, intensified its marketing and developed the brand. At present, MIMS has over 60 clients composed mostly of prestigious establishments representing a cross-section of the business sector and is helping provide jobs to more than 2,000 employees. Under his stewardship, the family ventured into other businesses like cinema operations, food and restaurant operations, book distribution and rural banking.

Glenn, however, is best known for his brainchild which is his coffee shop business named COFFEE DREAM, which he started in 1996 in Cebu City when gourmet coffee shops were hardly known at that time. He started his business with a capitalization of P90,000 from his personal savings. He believes that he could provide the ultimate coffee experience to a wider market with a distinctly home-grown concept. He aims to make COFFEE DREAM a well-recognized national brand catering to the “general market”. COFFEE DREAM wants to capture all market segments, making its prices affordable and its product selections appealing to the Filipino market, thus, introducing products like the “KAPE PARES”, a coffee combo paired with our pinoy favorites: pan de sal, ensaymada, cheese bread and puto cheese. Coffee Dream is using locally produced coffee and is an active member of the National Coffee Development and Productivity Board (NCDPB). He also intends to dominate the Visayas and Mindanao market wherein at present, he has 17 outlets in these areas. In 2000, he started franchising which grew to 6 franchise outlets at present. Coffee Dream is also a recipient of the government’s SULONG program of the Department Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Small Business Guarantee Corporation (SBGFC).

In a span of less than 10 years, the small coffee shop that Glenn Anthony started in the 4th level of the Ayala Center Cebu has grown into a dynamic company with twenty (20) outlets, all over Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Fourteen (14) of these outlets are company-owned while six (6) are franchise. It intends to open 3 more outlets this year. Within three years, COFFEE DREAM intends to be the leading Filipino-owned coffee shop chain nationwide.

Glenn’s dream of developing a locally conceptualized coffee shop which will make coffee drinking a part of the lifestyle of the ordinary Filipino is slowly coming true. No different, baklava doesn't have plantain banana in it, more on nuts cinnamon syrup and/or chocolate syrup.

I'm just tickled to see all these homegrown products and enterprises sprawling all over the Philippines. I hope there are more to come and would even expand internationally.

this morning, i had my breakfast at starbucks-tektite ortigas branch. i made sure that i'll take my breakfast there since today is the first day that SB will offer their chrsitmas-themed coffee concoctions. i love their toffee nut latte, it's the best! there's a new one though, PRALINE MOCHA.. i'll try it out next time.. in line with the SB red cups is the tradition of completing their promo card for you to claim your SB organizer/planner. got 1 sticker this morning, 23 stickers left...

I agree. It is one of the best Sbucks that I've ever seen. But the best for me would be the one in the gardens of Trinoma. That's one helluva a place. unfortunately though, it is always crowded.

Me and my father had a short conversation w/ the franchisee of SB for Cebu,actually the other SB-Seattle's Best, on our way to bacolod yesterday. It seems to be that the guy is scouting locations, both Iloilo and Bacolod. So let's just wait what SB will open up in Iloilo next year hehehe

Almost three to four years ago, the only places that we can go to was ConVan in Magdalo-Lapaz and Barracks in Diversion Road and also take note of Vega in Jalandoni-SanAg. Now, these nightlife triumvirate clubs then are now closed because of the opening of Smallville, Paseo Iloilo, Riverside Boardwalk and seemingly "sprouting like a mushroom" scenario of Iloilo's club life.

Back then, by 8PM, Iloilo was sleepy. Almost devoid of nightlife except for few pockets of restos and bars. That was only 3-4 years ago. Now, its the other way around especially weekends and during Dinagyang.

I'm just curious why some people think that Starbucks here in the Philippines has other franchise holder when in fact, there's only one granted by Starbucks Corporation and that's the Tantoco family. If there are other investors, they might be stockholders of the Rustans Coffee Corporation, if and only if they allow some other investors na makisawsaw sa business nila. As far as I know, Rustans Coffee Corp. is NOT publicly-listed kase.

I dont want to arguee with this..and besides, i never said that there are respective owners of SB in each areas...i know Rustans coffee corp is the one handling the operation in every branches......@VAN, kindly confirm that the Lopezes here in Negros is also a stockholder of Starbucks. :) This info also came from the former Manager of Rustans who happens to be a friend of mine.

and so you will understand more what I'm saying in my previous post, if the family that owns Max's Fried Chicken is the sole licensee for Krispy Kreme in the Philippines, then the Tantoco family through Rustan Coffee Corporation is THE SOLE LICENSEE for Starbucks in the Philippines.

rustans and robinsons have different owners. rustans is owned by the tantoco's while robi is owned by the gokongweis.

starbucks here in the philippines has only one franchise holder and that's Rustans Coffee Corporation, a wholly owned company of the Tantocos. This is to clear things up.

Based from experience, it seems like Coffee Bean makes their drinks too sweet, at least for my taste ha. Pero minsan I end up going there kasi mas kaunti ang mga taong nag-aaral so mas maraming available na space. Sa Starbucks kasi laging puno yung tables, walang mapag-lagyan ng libro.
