First of all , I have to say....all this forum re-organization is a HUGE mistake from the start. Thats where I always stood and those who know me, know that i've always supported the "Eastern European" forum. We Serbs could have had asked for our forum a couple of years ago, but a few people, like myself, were always against that.

There was no point, really. Even now, but what can I do, when there's some 30+ other Serbs who all want one.

I think this all started when Ukrainians got their forum, and congrats to them, but if you look at it today, its even LESS active than the Austrian forum was - and who now remembers that Austrians ever had a forum?! They've now been grouped with the Germans;)

I fear thats how Serbia forum will end up too, as well as the rest too.

No matter, we can use these new forums to grow our membership on SSC and bring in even more crazy Balkanians & Easterners to mainstream European discussions:yes:

I still remember the days when I was the only Serb here, and SinCity was the only Croat...how things have changed , huh?;)

Thats when Euroscrapers were much more active, and the only photos of Belgrade were from 80's and looked grainy. Most people back then never even heard of the city;)

Well good luck on the new forum, personally I don't like this one bit, I would rather like it the way it was everyone in EE. Now if I want to adress someone I have to go to the appropriate forums but whatever. As long as you have projects coming and don't create garbage threads, your forum will be fine.

I suggest you guys can know have individual threads for the towers being built, at least for the midrises, so anything above 15 or 20 floors could get its own thread.

hey SC i like it a lot, but i dont think we should, for example, JUST have a slovenian railway thread! all three should get a country-specific infrastructure thread, similar to the current ones (HR/SLO/BiH Railways, Airports, etc) just divided up by country instead of together as one.

I just have one proposal for us Slovenes... Please use SI abbrev. for Slovenia which is the official one (like SVN)... SLO is only used on our licence plates (though I don't know even why) and at sport events.

Just for future reference, here are ISO-standard two and three-letter codes for the countries should we decide to use them:

Slovenia - SI, SVN
Croatia - HR, HRV
Bosnia - BA, BIH

I like the format proposed, I only think we should have a subforum dedicated to photos and thus drop the "PHOTOS" in thread names of photo threads. And I like the use of capitals for city/country names to make distinction easier.

Just for future reference, here are ISO-standard two and three-letter codes for the countries should we decide to use them:

Slovenia - SI, SVN
Croatia - HR, HRV
Bosnia - BA, BIH
We're not an institution, which would have to respect some ISO-standards, which are often made just because they are necessary, just look at CDN for Canada, I'd understand CND, but not CDN, and I found out it's some Indian expression, which noone else but these Indians understand. Or EAT for Tanzania for example; unless you know it's Tanzania or that it stands for 'East Africa - Tanzania' (I guess), it tells you nothing. And I think the SI abbreviation for Slovenia is the dumbest one of all (similar to SE for Sweden). So I suggest we either use SVN or SLO, the latter is used more often (and noone will mistake it for Slovakia, simply because (s)he'll know there's no Slovakia in the Adriatic group). For Croatia I suggest CRO, because the language of SSC is English, and HR(V) doesn't tell you much in English. For Bosnia and Herzegovina I suggest B&H, because that 'I' in BIH isn't English, and BA(H) isn't that popular. 2 cents from me.

And I agree with you that people may not know what HR(V) means, but seriously, people not knowing that BIH stands for Bosnia and Herzegovina don't have any reason to be in this forum. That is, if they don't know that BIH stands for Bosnia and Herzegovina, there's not much chance they'll know B&H does.

And I really see no good reason in pointing out a couple of (illogical) ISO codes for some African countries to prove your point, because we are not going to use those and thus are completely irrelevant in this discussion.

However, i would rather limit pictures to their size than to dimensions.

So, i say the size of a photo shouldnt go over 70 kilobytes, while dimensions in this case shouldn't matter then at all. Or on the other hand if somebody wanna show off a photo in its full size/dimensions - then thumbnails should work fine just as well :)

How about The Alpine-Adriatic Forum? I think that name just sounds better in English than Alpe-Adria. If not, Alpe-Adria is still better than the current name and it's definitely more appropriate for Slovenia.

Well, it's an English-language forum, right? Its current name is also in English.

Besides, the word "Adria" is neither Slavic (we all call it "Jadran") nor English -- and therefore seems somewhat out of place to me. However, as I've said, I wouldn't really mind the name Alpe-Adria, since it's better than the current name.

I think it's great that we're all in the same group, but I noticed there's a lot of "Zagreb - something or other" threads poping up, and creating quite the cluster, making it a little more difficult to find the threads other forumers might be looking for. I understand Zagreb is a big city, that needs plenty of attention (since it certainly deserves it), but creating this many threads is "too much" in my opinion.

Personally, I think there should be the general "(city name) - construction thread", and then any major projects having their seperate thread, like "(city name) - (project name)". That way, other forumers don't need to search through pages of a certain construction thread to see the latest major project update.

Please, name all new threads in the following fashion (where applicable!):

[Country] - Topic

Please use square brackets and English country/city names.

You can use Slovenian, Croatian or Bosnian in topic names, just make sure to add the topic name in English as well! English should be in the first place, followed by the native language.

An example:
[Slovenia] - Motorways/Avtoceste
[Split] - Projects/Projekti

When a thread reaches 500 posts, please open a new thread and contact me or another mod to close the old thread. Make sure to add the number of the thread! Please use Roman numerals when writing numbers.

So, here's an example:
