In earlier times there were according to http://www.franceforfreebooters.com/travel/SilverCity.htm , http://www.timetableimages.com/ttimages/cab.htm and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_ferry
some airlines, which offered a such called air ferry service, a car transport by plane, between UK and continental Europe. Has someone more information?
When and why were the air ferry services discontinued?
Did or do air ferry services also exist in other parts of the world?

The second aircraft shown in your link was the Carvair.

It was a conversion from the DC-4.

The first was the Bristol Freighter

I've never heard of anywhere else having this type of service.
