with all due respect to you, no offense, i just posted my thoughts to enable one to reflect about the development of jakarta in terms of the overall progress. not just about supertalls, malls, wtc, etc. it's good to have those structures, but the question is do we really need it? some might say yes, some might say no. i just want to see my hometown to be a more sensible city to live in...

if you found that comment offending, i really do apologize. if you don't want to answer it, then don't.. just leave it that way..

Actually, I am quite pleased that these private companies still invest in Jakarta. Although I am not a fan of free-market, private investment is imperative in Jakarta, considering the government's inability to invest in infrastructure. What's more, though, is that many of these private investments will improve roads and pedestrians around them.

^^ I think that's just the Bakrie Tower. They're not going to build all 20 skyscrapers at once. There is one office tower being built and two apartement towers are going to be built in the near future. So, its a work in progress. :cheers:

This signature office tower complex, designed by I. M. Pei, consists of 62 story and 46 story high towers with over 1,000,000 sqf. of custom designed unitized curtainwall, cladding, and skylight systems. The systems incorporate granite, glass, aluminum and steel. R. A. Heintges Consultants assisted with the design of the curtain wall and provided complete contract document drawings and specifications.

The Grand Indonesia tower (Jakarta, Indonesia) is a 57-story skyscraper covered with two LED videoscreens. The low-resolution back screen presents abstract motion art and the high-resolution foreground screen periodically presents lifestyle and branding content along the face of the building. Building visuals (both high and low resolution), comprise approximately 60,000 sq. ft. of LED video coverage along the exterior curtain wall.

The building was created by Darryl Yamamoto, AIA, director of Austin Veum Robbins Partners (AVRP) and Mixed Use Studio, both of Los Angeles (AVRP also has a San Diego office). Yamamoto was formerly with RTKL, where he designed the project.

“Essentially, the LED grid followed the form of the building’s curtain wall,” Yamamoto said. “Thus, the LED video strips were mounted against the building in several types of formations. In some instances, where there was glass, the LED video strips were placed inside the glass, facing outwards towards the public. Where there were opaque, metal panels on the building skin, the LED strips were recessed into reveals.

Any latest picture of the Regatta and the update of the construction? When I was in Jakarta last month, I saw the billboard on the side of the inner city toll road. I am still amazed at the n shaped building. Other interesting skyscraper projects are the Pondok Indah extension and The Archipelago. These 3 projects will surely be the new landmarks of Jakarta.

Delapan perusahaan swasta lokal dan internasional menyatakan bersedia membangun 10 menara rumah susun sederhana (rusuna) di Pulo Gebang dengan bekerja sama dengan Perum Perumnas. Rusuna tersebut termasuk dalam program pemerintah dalam membangun 1.000 menara (tower) rusuna.

"Mereka telah menyampaikan keinginan dan sudah masuk dalam daftar kami. Data ini dilaporkan besok (hari ini) kepada Wapres," ujar Menteri Perumahan Rakyat M. Yusuf Asy'ari seusai rapat kerja dengan Komisi V DPR di Jakarta, kemarin.
Total rusuna yang akan dibangun di tanah milik Perumnas di Pulo Gebang tersebut adalah 10 tower. (Lihat tabel) Lahan Perumnas pada lokasi tersebut seluas 30 hektare dan lahan yang dinyatakan siap bangun sekitar 6 ha.

Perusahaan-perusahaan tersebut, jelas Menpera, tidak hanya membangun rusuna pada lokasi tersebut, tetapi mereka juga akan membangun di tanah milik perusahaan tersebut.

Rusuna itu nantinya tidak semua terdiri dari bangunan 20 lantai, tetapi bervariasi, di antaranya lantai 16, 18, dan 20 lantai. "Tidak semuanya dibangun 20 lantai, itu sangat tergantung pada kondisi tanah," ujarnya

Eight private Indonesian and international companies are willing to construct 10 low income apartments in conjuction with Perumnas in Pulo Gebang, Jakarta.
The 10 towers are part of a government program to construct a 1000 low income apartments.

“The companies have confirmed interest, and are added to our list. This wil be announced tomorrow (today)by the vice-president,” stated by the Minister of Public Housing M. Yusuf Asy'ari in line with the workmeeting he had with commission V of the Indonesian Senate.
On the Pulo Gebang buildingsite of Perumnas which is stretching 30 hectares. 6 hectares will be used to construct a total of 10 towers.

The Minister of Public Housing assures that the companies involved will not only construct on the Pulo Gebang area but will also construct on other building sites owned by Perumnas.

The low income apartments will not solely include 20 storey buildings, but they will also include 16 and 18 storey apartments. "Not all towers will be 20 storeys high, it will heavily depend on the ground quality of the sites to be build on", as said by the Minister of Public Housing.

^^ it will take awhile before Jakarta fills in. Basically this is the result of an overoptimistic building boom before the 1997 economic crisis, which resulted in a rather expanded and multiclustered CBD.

Although growth has picked up considerably for the past four years, I'm expecting only the finishing of several clusters, but not the joining of those clusters into one mega CBD.. too bad..

Sooner or later they will form a uniform CBD will i believe, and it will be impressive
