This area is a brownstone lovers delight. Long one of the roughest neighborhoods in New York, Bed-Stuy is undergoing a renaissance.

not only has it been gentrified... it seems as though they have kicked every living person out of the place.... where are the people? i could count just about all the people in those pictures on my hand...

it is a nice neighborhood though...been through there many times during the day and night while visiting my brother

such beautiful houses...I was in Red Hook a few weeks ago, visiting my ex-college roomate, and that neighborhood is rapidly being gentrified...I've seen pics from a few years ago compared with this year and Red Hook is on the rise.

There were plenty of people out. I just don't like to deal with the drama you get when people think that you're taking their picture; therefore I only shoot when no people are around.

Now I can see them, and wow it was worth the wait!
Beautiful pictures, probably among my favorite neighborhoods in America!

Pretty much all of Brooklyn, like the other boroughs, has improved greatly over the past few years, especially the areas north and west of Prospect Park, where you get a lot of priced-out-of-Manhattan and/or too-cool-for-Manhattan domestic migrants (Red Hook starting to fall into this category). South of Bed-Stuy and East of Flatbush, however, still contains the iffiest neighborhoods in all of NYC. Let's just say that Brownsville has the lowest rent of any neighborhood in NYC for a reason.
