Jakarta - Surabaya is the busiest route in Asia.
cheers
Skyprince September 24th, 2006, 12:36 AM But not true.. the busiest route is determined by the number of passengers , not the number of flights.. so Tokyo-Sapporo is still the winner
paradyto September 24th, 2006, 01:17 AM 10 top, most Asia's route:)
cmoonflyer September 25th, 2006, 05:11 AM LAX-San Francisco?

Dubrovnik October 8th, 2006, 10:38 AM What about Zagreb-Split? he he:dunno:
BenL October 8th, 2006, 12:42 PM Is there any data for busiest international routes?

Bitxofo October 9th, 2006, 05:23 AM Madrid & Barcelona:okay:

MEX - MIA
GlasgowMan October 24th, 2006, 05:58 PM Is this just airport to airport? I’m guessing routes such as London to Glasgow where London has 5 airports and Glasgow has 2 will not be put together here for a grand total?
santobonao November 20th, 2006, 10:34 AM NYC-BOSTON
NYC-LOS ANGELES
NYC-CHICAGO
NYC-LONDON
SA BOY November 20th, 2006, 12:08 PM its all about frequency of flights, come on guys its not about number of passenders etc, its a gauge to what are the buisiest routes defined by frequency of flights and when you have say 900 per week thats over a 100 per day, its a shit load of planes
Vapour November 20th, 2006, 12:15 PM its all about frequency of flights, come on guys its not about number of passenders etc, its a gauge to what are the buisiest routes defined by frequency of flights and when you have say 900 per week thats over a 100 per day, its a shit load of planes
The busiest airports are about number of pax, why should routes be different?
raymond_tung88 November 20th, 2006, 04:48 PM What about Hong Kong to Taipei?
kronik November 21st, 2006, 06:44 AM does anyone have the BOM-DEL in number of passengers?
-Corey- November 22nd, 2006, 12:53 AM Damn.. we're out this year (LA-SD)
rilham2new December 6th, 2006, 07:59 PM Btw, guys.... We said about the air-traffic ..... Something that move on the air is the aeroplanes not THOSE BULKY NUMBER OF PAX..... Please b more realistic....
If I worked, in control tower. I would say, it is busier if I have to handle 5 flight at the same time (number of pax just 500), than handle one flight with the same pax number ....
TRY TO THINK b4 act....... It means busy on the air ..... NOT ON THE GROUND ....
TOWERCITY2005 December 6th, 2006, 10:06 PM Dubai - London
daily scheduled flights= 14 Direct flights
KIWIKAAS December 7th, 2006, 06:48 PM The busiest airports are about number of pax, why should routes be different?
No.
The busiest airports are ranked in both terms of number of passengers handled, freight tonage handled and the number of airmovements.
josevaldia December 7th, 2006, 08:51 PM I can't believe that MADRID-BARCELONA is the busiest route in the World.
:)
Joshapd December 7th, 2006, 09:48 PM London-Amsterdam was also pretty busy i remember, but i don't have any facts.
Shanghai City December 7th, 2006, 10:08 PM what`s about Shanghai - Hongkong
or Shanghai - Beijing
Bitxofo December 8th, 2006, 03:47 AM I can't believe that MADRID-BARCELONA is the busiest route in the World.
:)
Why?
:?
It is like that.
;)
In peak hours, there are planes every 15 min. or even more, with 4 different airlines!
KIWIKAAS December 8th, 2006, 12:55 PM It appears that this list is airport to airport not city to city. If the the list was city/urban area to city/urban area then it would look quite different.
For example the number of flights between LAX,Burbank,Long Beach,Orange County,Ontario - Fan Fransisco, Oakland,San Jose would far outstrip any of the routes on that list. I believe that this would aproach 250-300 flights (total) a day.
As for the number of passengers per route. Looking at this list Sydney-Melbourne would probably be the highest as most of the flights are flown with 767s (about 60%). The other routes are mainly with 737 or smaller or have too few flights.
vvill December 8th, 2006, 04:11 PM What about Hong Kong to Taipei?
it'd be in the region of 550-650 flights per week.
KIWIKAAS December 8th, 2006, 04:56 PM it'd be in the region of 550-650 flights per day.
Bullcrap!
Just checked a normal weekday TPE-HKG-TPE . Counted 42 services per direction = 84
Thats a bit different to 550-650. One really does get sick of people posting total and utter crap and passing it off as fact.

chill mate - i meant per week. apologies.
so 84 flights per day x 7 days a week = 588 flights
KIWIKAAS December 8th, 2006, 05:13 PM ^^
Chilled.
Easy mistake
Vapour December 8th, 2006, 05:14 PM No.
The busiest airports are ranked in both terms of number of passengers handled, freight tonage handled and the number of airmovements.
How many threads have you read dealing with freight or movements? How many about number of PAX? We can rank airports in number of airlines, number of parking lots or number of souvenir shops, but *most* discussions are about passengers.

The world's busiest routes (pax) are Tokio Haneda - Sapporo and Tokio Haneda - Fukuoka, flown with 747s, 777s, 767s and some smaller aircraft.
KIWIKAAS December 8th, 2006, 05:29 PM ^^
Agreed.

There have been quite a few threads started mainly by GregPZ showing rankings in passengers, freight tonnage and airmovements. But indeed most airport rankings are done in terms of passengers handled. This dosent make rankings based on other statistics illegitimate.
This particular thread tends to come back every year as well (busiest airport to airport routes in terms of number of flights).
What ever the subject may be (freight, airmovements, frequency) some forumers insist on hyjacking threads such as this one as it doesnt agree with their criteria.
