I greatly respect John Sewell and it would be an asset to City Council. That being said, I think he is going to humiliate himself by running against Joe Mihevc. Mihevc is a generally affable guy, a progressive, and his vote is very solid. And while Sewell has some great ideas on urban planning but he is on the wrong side on the main issue in Ward 21 - against streetcar right of way lanes on St. Clair, where he is bizarrely lining up with rightwing business owners. I take it a lot of his old supporters LIKE the idea. So I think he'll just end up getting most of the anti-incumbent protest vote (with John Adams getting a smaller chunk), and Mihevc should win easily.
Sewell should have run in Ward 29 against Case Ootes, who is an out and out conservative in one of the more progressive wards. What a shame.
