Spearman October 6th, 2006, 10:37 PM Interesting design. Reminds me of some complex mechanical gearbox or something, but I think it will look real nice... Especially if it gets a skyline to go with... ;)
Martins October 7th, 2006, 06:51 PM Mechanical gearbox !?! Ha ! :D
Its true! :)
Nomels October 7th, 2006, 08:11 PM NO:) It is representing a couple holding each others hands
Chilenofuturista October 7th, 2006, 10:31 PM 150 m!! It seems I'll have to visit Riga one day...
taimis October 8th, 2006, 01:30 AM 150 m!! It seems I'll have to visit Riga one day...
OMG its only 150 meters, calm down.
Anyway, a nice project for Riga (trying to beat Vilnius), but I have fears about that sky bridge...
babycake October 8th, 2006, 02:27 PM After this skyscraper is finished Riga would become a great rival to Tallinn regarding the skylines of S&B cities, wouldn't it?
ch1le October 8th, 2006, 04:51 PM It is a rival already, in terms of capability. But Tallinn got a head start, a big one at that, and it will take half a decade or more for Riga to catch up since we wont just roll over and die either ;)
Dompcz October 8th, 2006, 10:49 PM Good to see another growing skilyne in the Baltic states. :okay:
P.S. Why everyone keeps forgetting Klaipeda when we speak about skylines? It's not capital or big city but it's really worth mentioning in this sphere. ;)
ch1le October 9th, 2006, 04:37 PM /\ lets see which projects materialize first ;)

Only 150 meters?
It seems we deal with different parameters. If we're talking about a city like NY or Shanghai then it wouldn't be that remarkable, but since we're dealing with a small city up in the north of Europe- you have to admit that it gets impressive!
Cheers latvians!
vanniken October 10th, 2006, 10:53 AM well, to be precise, Riga is close to mid-size city in Europe, and for sure, it's pretty small, if we compare it to cities in Asia ;)
CrazyKing October 10th, 2006, 10:56 AM Once I heard a heritage protector who told that due to geological issues, buildings in Riga couldn't reach more than 100m, I guess he was drunk, since the academy of science is already more than 120m and the TV tower has 368m... LOL
It's great to experience how the skyline's growing in the speed of light... :D
BTW - I study geology, that guy told that Riga has nothing else but sand on which the buildings could stand, heh, we have a very good dolostone foundation just 20-30m deep...

Yeah, whatever...truth to be told you are living more north (Stockholm - 59°21′N; Riga - 56°58′0″N) and living in a city that is as big as Riga (population - Riga city 727,578; Stockholm 776,545). :D Cheers swedes@

Well of course it's big for Riga, but I dont think anyone should be that shocked. I think everyone is too concerned about the hight and not the quolity of the project :toilet: . But as I already said, this one looks grest!
Gatis October 11th, 2006, 11:32 AM This is a bit suspicious that they increase only 1 m more than Lithuanian European Tower. But OK, so it be, it would be easier for somebody else to beat "Z towers".
I am glad that they managed to get Austrian (but in reality - global) company "Strabag" with this project here. Finally the big bosses are coming.
taimis October 11th, 2006, 05:39 PM Well that 1 metre makes all the difference.
Dont worrie, Lithuania will come back in the race  .
vanniken October 12th, 2006, 02:42 PM who cares? :) it isn't about measuring of our "willies" ;)

Sure it is :tongue3: .
