Hello, these are the pics i took on my trip to Paris. I traveled from Waterloo to Gare de Nord on Eurostar - which wasnt as exciting or plush as i thought. Anyway the weather wasnt particularly good but most majour tourist site were free as it was heritage weekend (an excellent idea!). (please excuse my French)

Well traveling down from an area called Republique to the Bastile - which was a roundabout with a statue where once a castle/ prison once stood, but a good place to start

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/05.jpg

and then on to the city hall - or Hotel de Ville which had a huge que outside it and was a very nice place to sit and enjoy an apple for breakfast with the fountains

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/07.jpg

just across the bridge....

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/010.jpg

....brings us to Notre Dame

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/011.jpg

its very dark inside, but felt very holy to me

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/013.jpg

and then a trip to the top via a que and 5 minutes waiting in a shop half way one of the towers

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/024.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/028.jpg

i like this pick, the roofs look like its been snowing and the trees are a very pretty colour

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/032.jpg

when this pick was taken a band was playing "the lion sleeps tonight" and all the bells were going

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/039.jpg

and this was my next destination, the Pantheon

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/041.jpg

via a good view

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/044.jpg

reminds me of St Pauls in London from this angle although it was a very plain building, just a wall of stone greeted us at the end of the street (but i suppose this isnt the main route

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/045.jpg

it was very pretty inside but had been attacked by an artist - well i say artist!

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/047.jpg

i think it was cotton with polystyrene balls inside

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/046.jpg

then a trip up the dome

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/052.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/055.jpg

notre dame in the distance

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/056.jpg

after lunch on the steps walking down the main route to the Pantheon (am very proud of ordering all food in french - deux big mac silve vous plait! :) only joking)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/060.jpg

notice the burger place pointed out after the pic was taken

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/061.jpg

heading back towards the island Notre Dame is on we saw a que and joined it - leeding us to the Conciergerie, which gave us acess to one room only. Very pretty but for a normal price of 5 euros a rip off.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/064.jpg

a better view of the building - apparently Marie Antoinette was interred here

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/066.jpg

looking back towards Notre Dame

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/065.jpg

Next we went for a sit down in a park, hich was gourgeous and the sun came out for a bit

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/067.jpg

in the same park apparently this is the Stock exchange - which we qued for only a bit but decided against it

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/068.jpg

Then on to the Louvre - i forgot how huge and amazingly beautiful this place is

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/070.jpg

a view to the river

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/072.jpg

was worth a look - you can see how busy it was - mainly Parisiennes

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/073.jpg

the inverted pyramid

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/075.jpg

the fountains were cool, they had a mistyness at their base

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/079.jpg

showing the distance

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/083.jpg

a very intersting place to sit and apreciate the archetecture

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/084.jpg

quite a cool shot showing the symetry

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/087.jpg

first view of the Eiffel tower

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/085.jpg

take time and apreciate this shot, i love it

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/090.jpg

so walking form the lovre to the place de la Concorde

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/093.jpg

the fountains and the obelisk

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/096.jpg

the glass roof is gourgeous and reminds me of the destroyed crystal palaces of London New York and i think there was one in Sydney shame this one is the only survivor

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/097.jpg

and on to a very grand building where there was a free open concert by a milatary band

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/098.jpg

in the main square of the building (Napoleon looks over the square)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0100.jpg

and under the gold dome is Napoleons tomb ( look at how big it is compared to the people)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0102.jpg

the inside of the dome (i think the French do this style of grand building best)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0104.jpg

showing the scale of the interior in two pics

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0107.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0112.jpg

isnt it cool i took it in one pic

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0115.jpg

after nearly falling in the moat for a sit down i took this pic

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0117.jpg

and walking to the middle of the square without looking we turned around and took this pic

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0120.jpg

showing the scale of the Eiffel tower

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0122.jpg

if you look on skyscraperpage you can see the observation decks of the Eiffel tower and Empire State building arnt that different in hight

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0124.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0126.jpg

the view from the second floor - the mist had lifted to reveal a beautifull sunset

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0129.jpg

les invalides and Napoleons toomb in the middle, Notre Dame to the left and Pantheon to the right

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0132.jpg

view toward La Defense - a beautiful skyline

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0134.jpg

a close up

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0135.jpg

the sunset - mans creations arn't as beautiful as the solar systems

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0137.jpg

i loved the way the sun shone on this street

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0138.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0139.jpg

looking to the top

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0140.jpg

plenty of room

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0141.jpg

looking up the seine - the statue of liberty is on the end of that island ( a smaller version)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0142.jpg

looking towards Montparnasse tower and the beautifull ornate gardens

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0149.jpg

view from the top

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0155.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0156.jpg

now you can see the park between the Eiffel Tower and La Defense

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0157.jpg

Arc de triumph

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0161.jpg

looking down

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0166.jpg

you can see the statue better now

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0167.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0169.jpg

night time - city of lights ( rather sensible idea)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0179.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0187.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0190.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0192.jpg

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0198.jpg

the mist started to come in again

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/susananstiss/0202.jpg

well first part / day is over - just a quick trip back to the hotel via the underground which was clean but not perfect

Good pics, but you should post this on the international forum, it'll barely get any comments here

I must confess that I am ecstatic, although the weather contitions were not conducive to taking pictures.

Very good job, well done, and... Paris never ceases to amaze us all I believe.

Very nice photos.

That vast concrete plaza in La Defense does look a bit excessive given the amount of people walking on it.
