У вихідні у Львові урочисто відзначають 750-річчя з дня першої письмової згадки про місто в літописах, повідомляє Інтерфакс-Україна.


Дводенні святкування відбуваються на найвищому рівні. У суботу до Львова приїдуть президент України Віктор Ющенко, президенти Польщі і Литви Лех Качиньській і Валдас Адамкус. Вже прибули до Львова посли США Вільям Тейлор та Росії Віктор Черномирдін. Приїде також лідер БЮТ Юлія Тимошенко, яка проведе прес-конференцію і подарує Львову стародавній рукопис.

Серед VIP-гостей урочистостей артист та режисер Богдан Ступка, альтист Юрій Башмет, боксер Віталій Кличко, співачка Руслана, режисер Роман Віктюк та інші.

У суботу в програмі святкувань - урочисте відкриття в оперному театрі за участю президентів, концерти Руслани, гуртів "Океан Ельзи", ТНМК, італійської співачки Інгрід, а також світло-піротехнічне шоу відомого німецького артиста Герта Гоффа.

В неділю міністр внутрішніх справ України Юрій Луценко о 13:00 пригощатиме львів’ян та гостей міста 900-кілограмовим тортом, а закінчиться свято концертом балканського співака і композитора Горана Бреговіча.

Охорону правопорядку в місті забезпечуватиме понад 2 тисяч співробітників міліції. Крім того, чергуватимуть близько 50 бригад швидкої допомоги, переважно в місцях проведення масових акцій в центральній частині міста.

Президент України Віктор Ющенко вже відбув до Львова. У поїздці голову держави супроводжують міністр закордонних справ Борис Тарасю, міністр культури і туризму Ігор Ліховий, київський міський голова Леонід Черновецький, голова Нацбанку України Володимир Стельмах, заступники голови секретаріату президента Віктор Бондар та Олександр Чалий.

В урочистостях також візьме участь дружина президента Катерина Ющенко.

До Львова вже прибули президент Польщі Лех Качиньській з дружиною та президент Литви Валдас Адамкус.

Планується, що В.Ющенко проведе зустрічі з польським і литовським колегами у вузькому колі.

Symphonic sounds in Lviv
Orchestral hit for Ruslana

Ruslana surprised audiences across the Ukraine by conducting an orchestra through a brand new suite, written by herself, as part of a concert celebrating 750 years of the city of Lviv.

The work, entitled Energy Source, combined both themes from Ruslana's earlier hits and new work from the Wild Energy project she has been working on. Conducting an orchestra was no challenge for the Ukrainian star, who achieved higher diplomas from Lviv Conservatoire in Symphonic Orchestra Conducting and Piano.

Laser light show
Ruslana was supported by German lightshow expert Gert Hoff, who provided a stunning pyrotechnic and laser show to accompany the concert. Lviv Opera House was turned, for one evening, into a blazing light show mixing Lviv's past, present and future hopes.

The show also included two brand new tracks from Ruslana, one of which - Silent Angel - focuses on the tragedy of human traficking. Part of the song had already been features in the anti-trafficking video Humans Are Not For Sale, and is a rock ballad in style - a slightly new musical direction for Ruslana. Silent Angel is included as a track in Ruslana's future album plans, so fans should have the chance to own the track soon.

President of Ukraine made a speech at the 750th Lviv Anniversary

On September 30, Lviv City celebrated its 750th Anniversary. Victor Yushchenko of Ukraine, Lech Kaczynski of Poland and Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania, First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko, Poland’s First Lady Maria Kaczynska, Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk, Lviv Governor Borys Oliynyk, Lviv Council Head Myroslav Senyk, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyand Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky attended the event.

Victor Yushchenko has spoken at an official ceremony to mark the 750-year anniversary of Lviv, the president press office informed.

In his speech, the President said: “I have been intimately conversing with Lviv for many years. Circumstances, Lviv and I change in this dialogue but today I will responsibly express Ukraine’s infinite gratitude to Lviv.”

President Yushchenko said he treated all Ukrainian cities, towns and regions equally but admitted that he profoundly valued “the distinct and consolidating national character Lviv displays.”

“I firmly believe that Ukraine will be truly great when it overcomes the slightest symptoms of internal phobias and stops heeding the imposed myths about the easterners and westerners, speaking with national confidence instead. In this context, the role of Lviv is special,” he opined.

The Head of State believes our “meaningful European path” is in Lviv and thus the city is destined to guide the country to Europe. He said he appreciated the “creative presence” of Poland and Lithuania in Lviv.

“On behalf of Ukraine, I am bowing my head to honor Lviv residents that sacrificed their lives for our country’s independence, among them Cossack riflemen, soldiers of the Ukrainian Galician Army and warriors of the Ukrainian Rebel Army. Addressing church patriarchs, I would like to honor the Greek Catholic Church, which pillars our nation,” he said.

Victor Yushchenko also thanked each resident of Lviv that contributed to the revival of Ukraine in 1991 and helped it gain freedom in 2004.

“The city of Lviv in Ukraine protects the nation from the threat of becoming inferior. Let these magnificent guards be always zealous and deserving, and that is the most important thing I want to wish my dear and beloved city,” he said.
