Nadini October 4th, 2006, 04:58 AM its what it looks like right now, just theres a bit more progress (four season right now is taller and theres more construction in some of the empty spaces)
Beiruti October 4th, 2006, 06:31 AM Bikes, the war had no affect at all on this area of Beirut.

CrazY November 27th, 2006, 12:50 AM i like construction in lebanon it looks so clean and slick unlike other countries :sleepy:
Creedonomix December 11th, 2006, 10:07 PM Woow...walla very beautiful...i love lebenon...always go there in summers...just love it and its beautiful people!!!

Skyprince December 17th, 2006, 08:00 AM OMG !!! The waterfront in Beirut ( from what I see ) looks better than any waterfronts Ihave known in Europe.
It is amazing that Lebanon developed very fast (from the aerial views of Beirut ) from scratch into a developed country in a very short time !
Nadini December 26th, 2006, 10:40 AM What a morning to wake up to!!!

germx January 7th, 2007, 09:23 PM Beautiful city, definetly has the potential to become THE most beautiful city in the world.
mahdial_x5 January 7th, 2007, 09:36 PM i know! i agreee with germz 100%
it is natural unlike dubai (no hatred towards dubai though)
dubai is a monstrosity of steel and metal...construction 24/7, yet it does not have as much natural beautyas beirut, its all desert and beaches, not as much diversity
Beirut however does, it is natural. i would LOVE the oppurtunity to live in Beirut
Nadini January 8th, 2007, 03:46 AM Another lovely pic :)

Nadini January 24th, 2007, 04:55 AM ^^ good one, happy to see it this way
Lirtain January 24th, 2007, 05:06 AM It's the best angle so far as it captures all waterfront projects from close distance :)
@ Nadini.. that closeup pic of MT is excellent..
Keep such great pics coming guys..
Nadini January 24th, 2007, 05:13 AM ^^ I wanna see a picture of the Marina from the front (from a boat), it will look awesome! when all the towers are complete!
Lirtain January 24th, 2007, 05:24 AM ^^ Yeah that would be great.. from the edge of that 'Sansoul' near Saint George hotel you can have an excellent shot as well of the front side.. it's easier than getting a boat
Beiruti January 24th, 2007, 06:24 AM Such an awesome pic! I wonder from what building it was taken from?
nareg January 24th, 2007, 10:04 AM Thanks! Really nice view..
As for the location, it is taken from here. (From Google Earth --> 33°53'47.94"N, 35°29'44.85"E)
Nadini January 24th, 2007, 04:06 PM http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/3633/367868833fd9a9f7ef3b6ym.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

wow they started with a new project?
Beiruti January 24th, 2007, 07:04 PM ^^ Yes it seems like they finally started on that...
See the new thread on the Beirut Waterfront Development (BWD):

http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/9097/beiruthu5.jpg
Lirtain February 6th, 2007, 05:25 AM ^^ Great thanks.. looking forward for the day when the PT will be higher than the Beirut tower :)
mahdial_x5 February 6th, 2007, 05:27 AM :banana::okay:!! Maariinnaa Towerssss!!:okay: :banana:
thank you for thee Piccss BRO!
Nadini February 10th, 2007, 07:18 PM tnxs to Nareg for finding the site of the bay tower, here's the updated waterfront
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/458/61242325dn9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Ramazzotti February 10th, 2007, 07:22 PM we need more highrises in the background but surely not in Ashrafieh coz it has to keep its beautiful "cachet"
Nadini February 10th, 2007, 07:25 PM ^^ yes true, there's a big gap between the Marina Towers and the Bay/Beirut/Platinum Tower viewing it from the Ein El Mreisseh corniche, they should build one/two between those
Beiruti February 10th, 2007, 07:38 PM ^^ Well dont forget guys there will still be the Dib and Town Tower as well as the Ivana Trump tower.
Nadini February 10th, 2007, 07:48 PM ^^ yes I know, but what I was saying is that between Marina Towers and the Beirut Tower, there will not be a highrise there (I think), the ivana and the dib and town tower are behind Beirut Tower. This is what I mean :
Will there be a tower coming up there?
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/7580/64776980zb8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
nareg February 10th, 2007, 07:57 PM ^^ From this angle, no!
But keep in mind that we still have the reclamation area. So after 10 years [maybe], if they build towers over there, you will have a tower in the indicated area.
Nadini February 10th, 2007, 08:01 PM ^^ well not really, the reclamation area is to the left of the Marina Tower
nareg February 10th, 2007, 08:22 PM ^^ You are right Nadini.
Then to answer your question, if Phoenician Village gets constructed then it might be seen from that angle (I'm not sure).
http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/7412/perpendicularyr5.jpg
Beiruti February 10th, 2007, 08:22 PM Nadini, even if we had a tower there it still wouldnt be that high! Keep dreaming... anyway, lets keep the pics sexy ok? lol
Nadini February 10th, 2007, 08:24 PM ^^ You are right Nadini.
Then to answer your question, if Phoenician Village gets constructed then it might be seen from that angle (I'm not sure).
[/IMG]
^^ well lol, if Phoenician village is 500 meters+, maybe we would hehe
Nadini February 10th, 2007, 08:24 PM Nadini, even if we had a tower there it still wouldnt be that high! Keep dreaming... anyway, lets keep the pics sexy ok? lol
no no lol not that high, i just did it by hand, im just saying any highrise there would be good enough
... Happy lol
http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/9696/sdfvt03yx3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Beiruti February 10th, 2007, 08:25 PM Thanks for that pic Nareg but wouldn't the PV be too far away to really have a significant impact (might not be very visible due to fog/haze).
nareg February 10th, 2007, 08:39 PM ^^ Yea, it is pretty far, no impact.
Hassoun February 13th, 2007, 04:57 AM U never know guys, there might be plans for Towers behind MT.
mahdial_x5 February 14th, 2007, 08:14 AM LOL i still cant get over the name of this thread:

Lirtain March 23rd, 2007, 09:49 AM ^^ yeah finally
Beiruti March 23rd, 2007, 05:25 PM ^^ It is kind of sad to see the BT wiped out of the view though, especially since we were getting use to seeing it there. But it will never get a chance to be in the view in completed form...
relāmpago March 23rd, 2007, 05:31 PM I thought by sexy waterfront pics you meant sexy chicas..
No chicas!
why why oh why? :ohno:
Nadini March 23rd, 2007, 07:46 PM @ Relampago, only way to attract others  lol
@Beirut! isnt Beirut Tower a bit wider then the PT, so if you are walking on the Corniche to the right I believe you can still see the BT no?
Nadini March 23rd, 2007, 07:47 PM Ohh now that I looked closely to the picture, the PT is actually huge from the side, I forgot it has another ''tower'' in the back
LeB-iT March 26th, 2007, 12:45 AM it's better for the BT's view to get blocked anyway cuz it's one ugly building! and FAT
Jayme March 26th, 2007, 02:26 AM ^^ noooo the Beirut Tower is awsome !, its my Fave ATM.
Nadini March 26th, 2007, 03:19 AM old but I like, imagine you lived in the highest floor and ur on that balcony

Jayme March 26th, 2007, 03:33 AM ooooooooooo the four season is taller the Marina Tower , i thought they were the same. The View would be so nice you would be able to see everything
Nadini March 26th, 2007, 03:39 AM ^^ What, the Four Season Hotel is not tallet then the Marina Tower Jayme, it's shorter then the MT. You think its taller because of the angle.
Jayme March 26th, 2007, 03:47 AM ^^ but the Marina only looks taller cos of that Crown when Four Seasons get the crown wouldnt that be taller ?????
Nadini March 26th, 2007, 03:58 AM ^^ no ya jayme, the crown of the Four Season Hotel is much smaller, look at this picture, the crown is almost topped and its smaller then the MT
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/4458/stp60736vm8.jpg
Jayme March 26th, 2007, 04:11 AM ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my bad :)
it is much smaller then Marina Tower
Nadini March 30th, 2007, 06:44 AM You can see the Marina Tower

Nadini April 21st, 2007, 06:11 AM ^^ most likely from a place, its way to high to be from a building. Its a big mural wall, dont mistake the sidewalk (Bottom) from a rooftop, lol it took me forever to figure it out

Finally some serious progress.. I hope they'll have some 300+ meters skyscraper over there
Nadini October 18th, 2007, 08:04 AM ^^ they wouldn't do that. If you read the annual report they said it will range between 120 and 160m surrounded by mid-rise buildings around 90m. But you never know because they increased the height from 130 to 160m or something like that. Maybe they will increase it again hopefully.
Lirtain October 18th, 2007, 08:37 AM ^^ You're right.. I just checked the annual report. Thanks for pointing that out.
I hope they increase the height.. Beirut needs some skyscrapers and this is a golden opportunity to have them there before the plot is filled out.. it's like it's now or never!
Hassoun October 18th, 2007, 02:31 PM ^^Maybe Emaar will have something there, they didn't announce any projects in Lebanon, but they say they exist in Lebanese market.

Nadini October 18th, 2007, 03:15 PM ^^ more or less, if it's between 100-150 and 300m it is considered a highrise. Anything over 300m is a skyscraper.

Nadini October 18th, 2007, 03:34 PM ^^ no I think they will have a new word for it, even now some architect consider Burj Dubai as a Megascraper. But what you say could also be true. Maybe we can consider PT and MT as skyscrapers since they are the tallest compare to their surroundings.
nareg October 18th, 2007, 03:46 PM http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd61/beirutguy/waterfront.jpg
Just wanted to clarify that the three roads you see in the above pic are imaginary ones, that is to say still they are not built.
Lebanese Cedar October 18th, 2007, 06:50 PM ^^ more or less, if it's between 100-150 and 300m it is considered a highrise. Anything over 300m is a skyscraper.
^^ no we don't Libano, Marina Towers and Platinum Towers are not even close to be considered as skyscrapers.
There is no 300 meter minimum requirement to be a skyscraper. What determines if a building is a skyscraper or not depends on the city's skyline. It is all relative and there is no real minimum height requirement.
In a dense city where there with many medium and high-rise buildings, a 150 meter building is considered a skyscraper. In a city with almost no high rises that is dominated by mostly single story or a few story buildings, then something as low as 70 meters is considered a skyscraper.
Again, skyscraper is just a very general term, basically it is any building that stands out in a city's skyline.
The Marina Towers and Platinum Towers are definitely skyscrapers for Beirut. If they were built in Hong Kong, then they may or may not be.
Buildings 300 meters and higher are often called supertalls.
john2890 October 18th, 2007, 07:46 PM ...a palm tree in Kenya is a skyscraper.

yes true but if you take the word to it's literal term, it is not considered a skyscraper. We had this discussion in one of our architecture class ;) and I completely agree with you

AmeriLEB October 25th, 2007, 10:39 PM Im sorry i have to comment- WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is going to be the best city center! I love the new "corniche" The two line cassion defense is awesome!! They were ingenious in design and allowing two level pedestrian access:)
I wish they would require the developers to provide scale models to place in there office..would be awesome to have that updated
Nadini October 26th, 2007, 08:33 AM ^^ There were more models prior to that, I dont know why they took them off

AmeriLEB November 11th, 2007, 08:31 PM hmm i didnt think it was open that long..Post 167- is that marina tower? The land was still being filled in ...they did open it up for Journalists and groups at times..maybe this was one of those times..(They seem to be walking in groups and with folders etc)
Did they match these blue railings to the rest of the old cornice? I wonder if theyre going to replace these with the new ones

pipolebnene November 20th, 2008, 07:49 PM i like the waterfront but ive got 2 things:
1. the idea u hv of the biig buildings the skyscrapers just dnt fit the DT and beirut is a beton block cz of the buildings so DT is nice in the short, araanged, not attached buildings.
2. the St.Georges hotel is getin ruined!so why doesnt solidere just let it go and give it some space!
but cnt wait to come in december see my beloved beirut
john2890 November 20th, 2008, 08:21 PM you dont like attached buildings? you prefer free-standing buildings? :S ...hmmmm... i think if a building is low rise it should be attached to the next building and so on...forming one large block of small buildings.
where do live btw?

no ma hek i mean like the Dt it is well planed and there is some space between one biulding and the other to plant tres os just to let the ocean breeze go through...but if u see the rest of beirut it is too bad they biuld a biulding on the walls next to it and so on...i live now in switzerland but lived in lebanon 2000-2006 but the war made us go back here...
