View Full Version : Server problems
wjfox October 7th, 2006, 11:11 AM Here's a tip. It doesn't always work, but it sometimes helps!
If you're getting errors, or are unable to connect, try using the www1 and www2 servers.
So, in other words...
Instead of using http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=729
go to
http://www1.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=729
or this
http://www2.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=729
jimbo October 8th, 2006, 02:00 AM what's happened to the old threads? We used to have 10-15 pages of London threads which seem to have disappeared!!!! Are we getting them back? I spent ages taking photos and collecting renders for the Moorgate / Cheapside thread!!!
Grrrr.

Scroll to the bottom of the page (of the London forum), and there should be some 'Display Options'.
One of the options is to 'Show Threads from the Last Month'. Change it to 'Show Threads from the beginning.

mulattokid October 9th, 2006, 11:28 PM It may be me, but this site is so unpredicable now, I sometimes even give it a miss? I can spend a day trying to just log on, never mind read anything
Cat man do October 10th, 2006, 12:33 AM Naw - its easy. Look down the list and 'shift click' each of the topics that look interesting to load them into a new window. Go get a cup of tea, mow the lawn and by the time its done the pages may have loaded.
Tubeman October 10th, 2006, 01:18 AM Its flying at the moment... For me, anyway :)
BenL October 10th, 2006, 01:59 AM I wonder when, or if, everyone will return. It's been very quiet since the "big crash".
gothicform October 10th, 2006, 04:51 AM yeah site usage has halved.
wjfox October 11th, 2006, 09:15 AM Well, the server is lightning fast this morning. Looks like it might finally be fixed (?).
elfabyanos October 11th, 2006, 09:36 AM Wow, tell me about it!
large October 11th, 2006, 09:39 AM If less people use it, maybe it will get faster permanently
london lad October 12th, 2006, 01:54 PM So is the server problems finaly fixed or can we expect more of the same for the next month??
Does anybody have a timetable on whats still to be done with the forum -or is it still a botch job where nobody seems to know whats up & a new prob comes up every other day??

wjfox October 12th, 2006, 11:45 PM Here's another thing... and I know most people will already know about this - but for those who don't, we actually have a sister website called SkyscraperPage. So if SSC is down for any reason you can go there instead. Here's the URL for the European section:
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19
