PETALING JAYA: Tanjung Ru Marine City Sdn Bhd (TRMC) plans to launch its Marine City development in Pulau Carey, Selangor, by the first quarter next year.
Located on 6,780 acres, the project – which is expected to yield a total gross development value of US$6bil – will take 20 years to complete.

TRMC has secured a few foreign partners – Connel Wagner International of Australia, World Ace Country Club of Japan, Saha Regal Best Co Ltd of Thailand and Beijing Zhongjing Sybo Technology Co Ltd of China – to jointly develop Marine City.
Connel Wagner is one of Australia’s largest engineering consultancy and construction firms, while Saha Regal Best is involved in oil refinery in Sri Lanka.
Beijing Zhingjing Sybo is involved in the construction of stadiums for the 2008 Olympic Games in China, while World Ace Country Club owns and operates golf clubs in Japan.
According to Saha Regal Best regional director Mohd Nizer Abdullah, the foreign partners had secured funding for the project and Castlepines Corp Australia had agreed to finance up to US$800mil for the infrastructure and other preliminary works.
“The partners, who have well-established practices in their home countries, are eager to take part as they see good potential for the Marine City project,” he told StarBiz.
Nizer said Connel Wagner had been appointed lead engineer for the project and would kick off infrastructure work in January.
He also said negotiations were under way for Saha Regal Best, an investment holding company headquartered in Hong Kong, to acquire TRMC.
“When all the approvals have been granted, the Selangor government or its subsidiary will be allocated a 20% share in the company.
“TRMC has completed the master plan proposal and a major part of the feasibility studies for the project. The Marine City project has received the support of the Federal and state governments,” he added.
Phase one, which will take three to five years, will comprise a marine education research and training centre, marine convention and trade centre, a five-star hotel with marina, a commercial centre and waterfront golf course resort and residences.
Phase two will feature an aborigine cultural centre, a government marine centre and an eco-tourist centre, while phase three will feature a city centre with shops, offices and a shopping complex, a festival market, service apartments and a maritime museum.
Phase four will have mixed residential development, a dockyard centre and neighbourhood commercial centre.
