vbrum October 7th, 2006, 09:42 PM Virtualbrum now has a new website with a new name and new URL. We have taken over over 3,000 photos around Brum including the suburbs. Only around 1,000 are uploaded and in the gallery up to now. Take a look at http://www.birminghamnet.co.uk/

It is just off Broad Street. I have been there many times. I always go there after a parade in Brum.

i'll only eat my words for some of it maybe half? the Ikon galllery rocks so does no3 Bp & no 5 but no 2,4,10,9 & the city inn are shockingly block and square too much. i think anyone could agree on the evidence of the pictures, its certainly about a 50/50 or maybe 40/60 40 for old looking one's.
How did they manage to mix the old & new so much? I love no3&5 & the Ikon gallery but the rest is dreadful but im not going to lose any sleep over it.

The thing i love about Brindleyplace is that it is *just right* - everything it tries to do, it pulls off perfectly. I really think it is probably the best example of such a scheme in the country, it adds so much to the city centre. Even the cafe in the centre is perfect.
i work in Paddington Central in London, which is an attempt at a similar kind of development to BP, but gets it woefully wrong. It makes you appreciate how good it is when these things are "right".
Bachy Soletanche October 8th, 2006, 10:37 AM I did notice when they were builiding it that the first buildings were the best, and as they added more and more they got blander and blander.
Still I think they showed that design had improved from the Concreate monsters that people, including myself, thought that modern/new buildings were made of.

**Technology Update**... "In the ongoing battle to reduce street crime, the Community Safety Partnership are trialling the latest is CCTV technology - it is a camera in the form of a giant eyeball. For obvious security reasons, it has apparently be cleverly disguised on the roof of an unamed residential block of flats somewhere in the city. Experts claim that the vision capability of the 'eyeball' is far superior to conventional CCD camera lens."
