One of my favourite cities which feature center Islands on streets would have to be Barcelona. There, they form an intricate part of the urban fabric, in many ways they are so wide and popular that they almost form pedestrian zones in the middle of busy roads.

The most famous is of cause the Ramblas. Usually thought of as a pedestrian street, it is in fact a normal street with a wide center island.

There are several other "Ramblas's" throughout the city such as this Rambla in Ravel:

Outside of the narrow Gothic Quarter Streets, the Eixample area is famous for it's wide Boulavards with grand central Islands. In many cases, the main roads have two center islands for pedestrian traffic.
