View Full Version : LAS VEGAS | The Palazzo | 642 ft | 53 fl | Com
RateVegasHunter December 31st, 2007, 05:22 PM Great shots, Hunter! Are you in town?
I went to the Venetian today and went over to the entrance where it connects to the Palazzo and the guard told me that the Palazzo will open on Sunday at 6 p.m.
This is the first new resort on the Strip in quite awhile.
I was, briefly. Unfortunately I missed the opening, which really bums me out. Great shots, I see they are appearing on other sites as well.
mdiederi January 1st, 2008, 01:19 AM The interior look pretty snazzy, and looks like another great completed Vegas resort. Can a mod please change the status to LAS VEGAS | The Palazzo | 642 ft | 53 fl | 500 ft | 50 fl | Com | U/C (to include the u/c condo tower)?
I was wondering if we should start a new thread for the condo tower or just continue this one. May as well just keep posting here.
But why only 500 feet for the condo tower? The official planning commission agenda sheet says 632 feet (and it doesn't say how many floors).
http://dsnet.co.clark.nv.us/dsnetapps/agendaweb/Data/P0194639.htm
BarbaricManchurian January 1st, 2008, 03:40 PM VTaT says it's 50 floors (on the palazzo page, in the construction stats, it says its 43 floors) so then its probably 50 floors and 632 feet.
mdiederi February 13th, 2008, 04:53 PM Las Vegas Sands Corporation has been presenting their future expansion plans and vision for Las Vegas.
The vision is of a third resort connected to both the Venetian and Palazzo. It will go on the site of the present Sands Expo center (green area on site map). First they have to build a new Expo center (yellow area on site map) east of the Wynn employee parking garage. I think the new Expo Center is already approved and it will have over 2 million sq. feet of exhibit space. They also have approval for a skywalk for the public to get to the new Expo, but it will have to go over or under the Wynn employee skywalk, so it will be interesting to see how they configure that.
New Resort with possibly 4,000-7,000 more hotel or condo keys.

CrazyAboutCities February 14th, 2008, 03:06 AM WOW! MASSIVE!!! GO FOR IT!!!
Ebola February 14th, 2008, 06:34 AM Allow me to put this into perspective. As a size comparison, Freedom Tower in New York will have "only" 2,600,000 square feet of floor space.
FT will have 2,600,000 square feet of class-A office space; it will have 3,600,000 square feet of total floor space according to what I last heard from the engineer's site last year. I think this is because it has lots of below grade space. To think about it, the whole New WTC must have something like 20MSF of total space.
Vegas needs to be buildings taller and I am sure it will happen soon.
xXFallenXx February 14th, 2008, 06:40 AM the New Expo Center kicks ass!
i LOVE it.

thats if FT ever gets built of course
i can't see 1000-1500 foot hotels rising up along the mid and south strip as long as McCarran is there, it took them over a year to get permission to build Crown at 1064 feet and that sits OUTSIDE the FAA zone.
The problem with hotels that tall is safety and of course fire-risk, for now the next generation of vegas strip hotels will be between 600-800 feet just as the previous generation (mirage, treasure island, monte carlo, luxor, excalibur etc) were between 300-500 feet.
Holomeus February 16th, 2008, 02:16 PM A few pictures with the lights on. It has become a beautiful building.

CrazyAboutCities February 16th, 2008, 11:19 PM ^^ Wow... You're right that hotel tower is beautiful!!!
rossie1977 February 17th, 2008, 01:38 AM like most vegas hotels it doesn't look all that great during the day but at night, wow, just wow, great lighting effect
hopefully the next generation of vegas hotel (city center, fountainebleau, cosmo, echelon etc) will look good both at night and during the day :)
Basincreek June 18th, 2008, 04:37 AM How's the condo tower coming along.

This expansion sucks. I do not like it. this expansion's gonna happen because the Sands Expo Center existed before the Sands passed away in 1996.
BarbaricManchurian June 19th, 2008, 06:46 PM How's the condo tower coming along.
The latest update is from April 20, it was on the 11th floor then; i'd imagine its on the 20th floor by now.

BarbaricManchurian December 10th, 2008, 08:13 PM ^^Yes, it is on hold. It will be a St. Regis hotel and residences, but construction is not expected to resume until mid to late 2009.

Agreed. Las Vegas is the tackiest city in the world. Pure architectural kitsch (with a few exceptions).
The people love it though. Tourists from around the world spend not billions but trillions of dollars here. They revel and glory in the kitsch. It's like an adult Disney World ... everything is about artifice and glitter and imaginery magic. It brings out the children in people ... they get giddy when they arrive. Everything is about flashing colors, special effects, parties, gambling, shows, and entertainment.

Sounds good to me...:cheers1:

ElDudarinodotcom April 20th, 2011, 10:53 PM This was built a long time ago. I believe sieradzanin1 was showing that it should be moved, but really there was no need to bump it.
