KUWAIT CITY:
With only a few days left for the beginning of the next parliamentary session which is scheduled for Oct 30, both parliamentarians and the ministers are working overtime to prepare their list of priorities. The government is said to be wooing the parliamentarians in order to get a number of big projects executed. The projects had been delayed for quite some time and the government wants them approved and executed this time around.
A high-ranking government official said the government is preparing to approve a number of laws, which have been studied by specialized committees in the Cabinet. These laws include new regulations for the BOT projects, public taxes law and the law of the retired citizens allowances.
The source, however, said government might make some changes especially with regards to ministers who are the constant source of conflict between the government and the parliament. Meanwhile, MP Daifallah Buramiya announced he will collect signatures of ten MPs during the first parliamentary session to request for a private session of the parliament to discuss the writing off loans of citizens. According to him, those suggesting to write off just the interest and not the loan are looking only for the interests of the banks and the big merchants in the country.
they didn't say which projects :(
