Nothing exciting about the tower itself. The application agendas Wynn submitted said it will have the same color and stripe theme of the first Wynn tower, but the tower will curve in the other direction, and be a little bit higher and thicker, to accomodate more larger suite type rooms then the first tower.

oh and that parking garage in the above photos will be removed.

Why is the renders so hard to find... Is is supposed to be that top-secret in terms of exterior design? From what I red here its just a revamped design of an earlier hotel.

mdiederi
December 5th, 2006, 10:35 AM
Not sure why Wynn is so paranoid to release renderings. For this one it's pretty much assumed that it will be very similar to the first tower right next to it, just situated perpendicular to it and curving in the opposite direction. Now there is speculation that the end of the tower closest to the strip will be angled and slightly overhanging.

Maybe Wynn thinks his designs are trade secrets and doesn't want any competitors jumping the gun on him. Sort of like how the Burj Dubai is keeping secret the final height of their tower, for what ever reason.

Here's an independent render from www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/mdiederi/buildings/encore_rendering1.jpg

And here is a model of the Wynn Macau showing the second tower that hasn't been built yet. You can see that it's similar to the first. Wynn Macau is just a short version of Wynn Las Vegas, same color and everything. So we assume the second Vegas tower, Encore, will be similar to the first Wynn tower.

I figured that one would be able to find renderings of the now-open Wynn Las Vegas after it was open. Nope, I've been to every related architecture and engineering site and nothing...bupkis.

It would be fun to see the early concept renderings and e-models.

You could argue that Cascada was the original concept. It was not a Wynn vision and was planned for the area across the strip from Sahara.

Sky Casino: Wynn Resorts Ltd. will bring something that it learned from its Macau casino to Las Vegas when the $2 billion Encore project is completed next year.

The Wynn Macau has a casino on the top floor of its high-rise property with some nice views of the waterfront.

Wynn Chief Financial Officer David Sisk told members of the Nevada Gaming Commission last week that a similar Sky Casino would be offered atop the 50-story Encore, giving gamblers a nice view when they play.

It's not the first high-rise casino. The Palms also offers play from on high, as did the now-imploded Landmark.
The now imploded Mapes Hotel in Reno (where The Misfits was filmed) also had a casino on the top floor.

I don't know how many spaces it is, but I don't see how it could possibly be all Valet. They would need 100 runners 24 hours. Imagine the lines waiting for Valet if they are going to fill a garage that big with all valet. Has to be self-parking, IMHO.

I was watching a National Geographic special on the building of the Venetian this week. Originally Adelson had given a strict two-year time frame to build the entire complex from ground break on April 14 1997. Of course come the deadline date (April 1999), it wasn't finished or ready to open and the grand-opening had to be put back for one month. When the Venetian did open in early May 1999, half the rooms weren't ready and the shopping mall wasn't completed.

I can see the same thing happening with Palazzo. The thing is barely topped and Adelson is talking about it opening in November/December

I predict February at the earliest for this thing to open :ohno:

^^ If you go to the Palazzo website and click reservations you can see that it says December 20th.

I don't know, more power to them if they can pull it off...ambitious to say the least.

Well, I count 46 and a half floors from the ground in those pictures. In a recent interview Steve said it would be officially topped out in November.

BrianFey
September 27th, 2007, 01:42 AM
I think 58-60 is the final count of floors.

rossie1977
September 27th, 2007, 06:09 AM
They are working on floor 47 as far as i can make out from the photos; that probably means there are only 3 floors of the hotel left (plus the top piece)

Wynn is 48 floors so I doubt Encore will be more than 2 floors higher.

The 60 floor thing will be less 10 floors (not sure which level they completely miss out for Asian superstition purposes)

BrianFey
October 2nd, 2007, 05:33 AM
Rossie - Encore is listed as 631' with the Las Vegas Planning Commission. If you figure 10' per floor, and the extra heigth for the top area for the signage, you get about 60 floors. I am aware Wynn does not number floors with 40's due to asian superstition, but from what I understand, and my studying seems to prove, shows that Encore will indeed be 10 floors taller than Wynn. Steve Wynn stated last time he spoke, that Encore would be topped off in November, and if you have kept track of how fast they are moving, that also proves then can't be 3 floors from the top. If that were the case, it would be topped off, in just a few weeks, as they are adding a floor every 5 days or so. We shall see I suppose.

rossie1977
October 2nd, 2007, 05:44 AM
This is a photo posted by Kirre over at SSP taken on Saturday, i still think there is another four MAIN floors to go and then the top piece which isn't added to the overall floor count i guess (at least not in Wynn's case anyway)

Final count 53 floors. Swoop (crown) in progress.
Maybe this time there will be something (club, restaurant) in the swoop. Based on the elevator core rising to the top of the swoop area, I think a venue is possible. :)

I know for a fact there's nothing in the swoop for Encore. It's just like the original tower in that regard.

The main hi-rise differences are the two level suites on the West side of the building, the private gaming areas on the top floors and that's about it.

My sketch here is still spot on for the high-rise and my updated casino level sketch has been validated by a trusted source. The casino level stuff in the first sketch has been changed quite a bit, which is why I did the second sketch.

High Rise: http://www.ratevegas.com/extras/encore_drawing.jpg
Casino: http://www.ratevegas.com/extras/encore_oct_2007.jpg

Sorry guys, no public restaurant in the swoosh. I guess something like Venetian's Paiza Club is possible on the top floor, right below the swoosh. That would be interesting though Wynn has never shown much interest in high altitude dining and he's certainly had many opportunities to do something like that.
