It was a nice day in Baltimore, so I decided to spend my short stay atop the World Trade Center. Sadly, the windows were exceptionally dirty, so the pictures didn't turn out too well.

Nice pictures. They turned out well to me.

I've never been up to the top of the World Trade Center in Baltimore. I'll have to do that some time.

Next time you're in the Northeast, specifically Baltimore or Philly, you should make a short trip to Wilmington. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how nice and urban it is for a city its size.

Great picture set you have there. Looks like you had a good view of the Redbull Flutag from on top of the B'more WTC.

I agree. Those pics don't look like your typical top of the WTC pics that jsut about every tourist snaps. I'm not sure why, but they put Baltimore in a different light than usual. I especially like the ones looking out over Federal Hill. Harbor East is looking good, and is gonna look even better once the Four Seasons begins to be erected.

Nice photos, the make me dizzy. I usually see all these places from way down there. I havn't been up there in a while, have to do it again. I like the picture of Hopkins. It alway seems like that is a separate downtown of some other smaller city.

^^ Yeah and it's skyline will be expanding too. ;)

btw, wouldn't it be nice to see downtown Baltimore from another tall building vantage point other than wtc? I think so. :)
How about from the top of the Legg Tower? :D
How about from the top of the Harbor East Marriott looking down on the Vue? :D
How about from the top of the Commerse Building? :D ;)
Or, how about from the top of the Water Tower right now? :D  LOL!

I love the close up view of 100 E. Pratt and the Legg tower. There is just somthing about being up high in the middle of downtown that is magical. Great photos. Thanks for visiting Hon!

Hey Steven, how about from the top of 10 IH or from 300 E Pratt or the Naing Towers or the 80 or 90 floor tower we are bound to get at some point!

I have to agree. Wilmington much more than a home base for credit card companies.

We were stuck on the 95 for an hour as 2 lanes were closed at Delaware exit 1 because a bridge was under renovation ... not that anyone was working on Sunday. The fall colours were really nice though.

I hope it does...the Examiner building looks too much like that boring architecture you see along Connecticut Ave. in DC...something behind it would overshadow it.

^^ A slender 200-300 room Hotel around 250 ft. tall would probably be the best fit.

The Downtown Partnership lists that site as having air rights on their development map for the next four years, as does the Harbor Park garage building.

Yeah they're working on I-95 near Newark. The traffic never lets up down there. I can't remember if they're adding a lane or not.

Did you cross over the Delaware Memorial Bridge? If so, then that city you saw from the bridge was Wilmington. Stop by next time, and I can show you around.

Couldn't a slender building fit there? Maybe I am just dreaming. I guess I just hate the look of that Examiner building looming over the Harbor, although I could say the same about Lockwood place and the other building next door as well.

When the Pratt St corridor was designed, there were height and street setback requirements. All of the first wave buildings along there and Light St are pretty close to the height limit (140 feet I think). Later taller additions are set back from the original buildings and Lockwood seems to just violate the limit. You would probably have to revisit the entire urban renewal plan to build in front of anything. There also is something afoot with a proposal to use Pratt St better than now to make the street more pedestrian-friendly. Street retail would probably be a better use.

IMO, the biggest "mistake" along Pratt has to be the 100 East Pratt Tower. Over 400 ft. tall, wide and it blocks the BofA tower and all. :(

^^I agree....It should have been built further inland and taller, but hey its there now can't turn back. :)

Yeah I definitely think that building was a mistake. The city needs to go tall and slender instead of short and wide. I wish they would realize that.

^^Sooner or later they will, once there's no more room....lol. For instance in New York some of the tallest buildings are tall and slender and are built on small footprints.

Setting buildings so far off the street is a monumental mistake that really can't be corrected. The Legg Mason building is a perfect example.

That building was a postcard composition. Legg Mason (nee USFG) was to be one pillar of the Inner Harbor and the WTC, the other. I've never liked how that building takes up an entire block. The Plaza that covers their garage is so windy and forbidding and has nothing that is inviting. I guess we're stuck with it but I have never liked that block very much.

I've always said that I think they need to spruce up that plaza area. With some seating, trees, flowers, hell even put a nice fountain in front of it or something. Its tooo bland.
