How about some 1,000 footers? Jasonhouse November 4th, 2006, 06:33 PM Rail transit, and a greatly increased push towards sustainable urban development/coupled with a equally increased push to preserve outlying land as is. Anything else is secondary to me (or is out of the relistic realm of being impacted locally, like education policy, healthcare, etc) ps... I've long thought that if I was one of these Bill Gates types (filthy stinking rich), I would literally build the first line or two of a LRT system for Tampa, and just give it to the city. FloridaFuture November 4th, 2006, 06:40 PM 1000 footers aren't realistic either. Maybe in 10 years we'll have a 700-750 footer approved but that's about as tall as Tampa could get in the near future. Rail is a must and I think what Jason said with sustainable urban development. I'd also like to see a 5 star hotel in Downtown. In 10 years building up of the Westshore and Rocky Point skylines in terms of density and not height will occur. IMO tampabowler November 4th, 2006, 07:49 PM I agree with the 5 star hotel. Is Novare still considering the idea of constructing a Twelve project in Tampa? That could be a solution. tampamobster21 November 4th, 2006, 09:35 PM They are still in the works on that, or so I have heard. tampamobster21 November 4th, 2006, 10:07 PM They are still in the works on that, or so I have heard. Tampa on the move. November 4th, 2006, 11:20 PM Central Park finished with it's 4-5 20 stories, connecting Ybor City with Channelside.. Venu 50 TTT 52 12 Arts District Hotel 47 Martin 22 610 Franklin 33 Element 34 Place Skypoint 3 --32 Royal 28 Blu Channelside 2-30 stories Novare CS 28 stories Seaboard Square Plaza HI New Port WYC Plaza Channelside Newks Westin At least 3-4 high rise office buildings 650'-- 750'' all completed. Light rail system ( Even something like Marta) TIA expansion Airside B AND D need renovations. Hotel on Busch Gardens 5 star hotel in Downtown. I -275 Construction completed from Westshore to Downtown. More green space in DT. Riverwalk completed. Franklin street crowded with bars-cafe's-cigar bars-arts-theater-coffee shops. 2 more Superbowls wins. 2 more Stanley cup wins Just 1 playoff, hopefully more... for the D-Rays in the next 10 years I'll take..lol Conagra site demolished with large park and some sort of a community. Lastly the Fort Armory Site with it's spa's and condo's and hotel development TampaMike November 6th, 2006, 07:11 AM Yiepee! - Expansion to the West of Tampa. Expect a couple 15-25 Story office buildings down Kennedy. - Development in Ybor. A nice 10+ Story Residential/Hotel Tower will be built. Also, expect a museum to be built or renovated in with a old cigar factory. -Completion of the new TIA terminal. During the last planning stages, a 5 star hotel will be brought up and then be approved. -Major Improvemt with transportation. With the completion of light speed rail in Tampa and surrounding areas. All this starting sometime in January 2007. - Three to Four 700+ ft towers will be UC/Approved. With one being built by Novare. -I also agree with the above poster with a hotel being built near Busch Gardens. John F November 6th, 2006, 06:44 PM Ten years? Regional Rail -- not just Tampa but I mean a full scale plan to link Tampa to in Suburbs in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, etc. Commuter, LTR, etc. Business District revitalization -- I'm sick of all the business growth being out in Westshore and not in downtown. I want to see an effort by the city to lure businesses downtown. Maybe even a large corporate relocation to the city center (doubtful). I'd love to see a high rise commercial development in the Channelside area or north of the downtown core where much of the residential development has been. Tougher sprawl regulations / more preservation of open land -- you want development, you want redovelopment. That does not mean bulldozing every greenspace for single family homes, or sprawling condo subdivisions. There need to be higher impact fees for outlying area development and better steps to preserve land that hasn't been developed that is within the city limits... The Tampa Bay Water Desalinization plant actually working -- 10 years shouldn't be too long to figure that stuff out. Another Stanley Cup for the Lightning -- ok, 10 years may be pushing it with this happening (and no, I am not trying to ridicule the Lightning with that. It's a hockey-thing with regards to Teams not winning the cup for years and years and years after their last victory). Jahi98 November 6th, 2006, 08:36 PM 1) I'd like to see the first line of regional rail up and running, preferably a LRT/monorail line from DT St. Pete to Brandon along I-275, I-4 and I-75. I don't think the CSX line provides direct connections to the places people need to get to as far as employment centers. The described LRT/monorail line would hit DT St. Pete, Gateway, Westshore and DT Tampa, and would would be an instant hit with commuters. I also think the first line has to connect both sides of the bay. I don't see voters in Pinellas agreeing to tax themselves for a system that they don't get any immediate benefit from. 2) Completed expansion of I-275 from DT to the Howard Franklin Bridge 3) Complete redevelopment of Central Park and at least the beginning of redevelopment of West Tampa (to include midrise buildings) 4) A new tallest in DT Tampa 5) Maturation of Ybor City and Channelside into true self-sustaining, urban neighborhoods 6) Some midrise and highrise urban rental projects constructed in DT Tampa, Channelside, Ybor, Westshore and across the bay in Gateway and DT St. Pete I know this thread is about Tampa, but on the St. Pete side I'd like to see 1) The development of DT St. Pete into a true regional cultural, shopping and entertainment destination. I think the cultural part is developing quite nicely. The shopping and entertainment lags behind. Pinellas County lacks high-end shopping, and I think DT St. Pete could be that place, as an alternative to going across the bay. I'd also like to see more nightlife and entertainment in DT. I think some nice music lounges, small concert venues, and small theatres would be perfect for DT St Pete, and create a nice alternative to the larger clubs in Tampa 2) Redevelopment (at least planned) for Countryside Mall, Crossroads Mall, Tyrone Square, Seminole Mall and the Central Plaza area into more urbanized centers dmpeek77 November 6th, 2006, 09:56 PM I think that in ten years Tampa Bay area will reverse the growth trend that has been pushing people out further and further every decade. People in mt age group the 25 to 35 crowd will demand more affordable housing near the downtown centers of the Tampa Bay area. I envision St Pete coming into its own in the next few years and really making a name for it's self outside of Tampa bay. Tampa will continue to be the center of life in Tampa Bay and with all the new residents downtown, companies will be moving headquarters. Reginal transit will finally availabel but probably not until 2010 |
