I like it, although it's not tall at all..but it has some unity with the buildings surrounding it...largely depends on the quality of the finishings i guess..

It seems the construction is well advanced now, maybe topped out soon! :)

Ali bin Saeed al-Khayareen (left) and Abdullateef al-Mahmoud exchange agreement documents on the Retaj al-Rayyan Hotel

A 360-room hotel, Retaj al-Rayyan, is due to open in May 2007 in the Dafna area of Doha. The property is to be managed by Retaj Marketing and Project Management, which is planning to make it an “environment friendly hotel”, a senior official told Gulf Times.

This will be the first of a chain of local and regional hotels that adhere to international standards pertaining to environmental conservation specifications, he said. “At the same time, it is committed to meeting the complex needs of the most demanding business traveller and will deliver a high standard of service,” the official said.

Retaj Chairman Abdullateef al-Mahmoud signed the agreement to operate and manage the hotel with Ali bin Saeed al-Khayareen, who initialled it on behalf of his partners, the owners of the building.

The ceremony was also attended by Retaj board members Sheikh Ahmed bin Eid al-Thani, Mohamed Johar, Bader al-Mahmoud and Ali al-Hashmi.
The hotel has a “beautiful view” of the Doha bay, the official pointed out.
The 21-storey hotel includes 72 suites, 180 king-size rooms and 108 twin bedrooms, besides a variety of dining and entertainment options. The facilities include a state-of-the-art health club, sauna and jacuzzi, an outdoor swimming pool and other facilities for families and children.

Retaj, a major investing company, currently operates a number of residential and commercial compounds and hotel apartments. It is a leading player in the real estate market and has plans to expand its activities to outside the country.

I had dinner at the Movenpick towers, Noodle House Wook Mee or something, (BTW, I totally recommend it!) and passed by this hotel. its totally operational and there were people in the lobby. It looks small and luxurious--more luxurious than the Movenpick towers.
