This Friday (November 17th) Tampa is having its biannual "Lights on Tampa". Where a local urban artist, this year Janet Echelman, lights up one or more Downtown landmarks either permanently or temperoray. This year the landmark is the Poe Parking Garage. The events start in Curtis Hixon Park at 6:00 and ends at 8:00.

I probaly won't be able to go due to the fact it's my sister's birthday, but i think it'll be interesting to see how the Poe garage is made up. The three "artworks" from January's "Lights on Tampa" that remain all look great still and the Cube Light as its being called is becoming a landmark in itself. Go Lights on Tampa!

The cube light is awesome.

I might make a trip this time. I'm usually downtown Fridays, so it'll be convenient.

I think that the only one that is not permanent is the Poe garage.

On the website I posted it has a list of the permanent ones:
Poe Garage
Cube
City Hall
Performing Arts Center
Art Museum Wall
I think Friday's event will only have 1 new lighting artowork, but they will still have all of they old festivities they had last time. If I remember correctly the lights that were taken down were Plant Hall, News Center building, and Lykes facade.

Yeah I think its great that they are trying to get people downtown, but its just not the best way to do it. It does look somewhat trashy.
