nope, those were located in the suburbs near the hills still lush in greeneries particularly between Shrine Hills and the elevated portion of Diversion, and taken in the early morning when water vapor still condenses especially in areas with lots of greeneries. Cold air settles under, as with this case, unlike hot smog. Obviously M.Manila's situation with its more than 11 Million population of concrete metropolis isn't comparable with the city still enjoying verdant greeneries along its vicinity. you should be aware if you're from Davao and experiencing its temperature to compare with other highly urbanized cities that its tagline dubbed by the present LGU as "Eco City" is not mere cheap hype, but have solid basis, and this phenomenon still attests to it (the consequence of building a coal plant though, may remain to be seen).

Alam mo, kahit na palibutan pa ng amazon forest and isang malaking city ay the same smog pa rin ang makikita mo sa umaga dahil ang mga plants naman ay hindi nag aabsorb ng carbon dioxide kapag walang araw. In fact, dinadagdagan pa nga ng mga ito ang amount ng co2 sa hangin. So sa gabi ay maiipon at maiipon pa rin ang mga pollutants. At nalalanghap ito ng buong buo ng mga tao habang mahimbing na natutulog.:ohno:

magiging obvious lang na malala na ang smog sa isang city kapag sa hapon or sa tanghali ay tila nababalutan pa rin ng smog ang buong lugar. that means, hindi na kayang linisin ng mga tanim sa paligid ang dumi na napoproduce ng isang ciudad.

So bukas, kapag operational na ang mga coal power plants sa kung saan saan...ay asahan na natin ang mas malala pa ritong smog.:ohno:

Naaah, that's fog, you will know it is because it disappears once the sun rises up fully and it gets warm. Smog lingers longer.

Bacolod also gets fog occasionally too...and like Davao those tall mountains of Negros just east of Bacolod creates a good environment for formation of fogs

agrees, one notices it is mostly fog kasi tuluyan yang mawawala kapag may araw na, unless if it stays then definitely it is smog in an urban area.

one factor also that manifests the ecosystem of an area is still in manageably balanced state is when typical rains occur during nightime, dawn or late afternoons, which Davao seems to be having for the moment, makes one wonder if that simple but worthwile pleasure (it's refreshing to wake up in the morning esp. when it rained a while earlier) will still be enjoyed the moment that coal plant becomes operational.

^^ Iloilo's got promising skyline, lalo na kapag nasa foreground ang landmark (este, watermark) Iloilo River with its clean and clear (kung di baha) waters :okay:

some of M.Manila's panorama reflected by Pasig River would have been awesome, pero naging polluted yung tubig, otherwise Pasig river would have been one of the country's more scenic and historical rivers :ohno:

those kinds of pics would probably look even better with seabirds gliding through the river ( basta iwasan mag-shot kapag may basurang nakalutang :nuts: ).

I tend to notice some seabirds do sometimes glide along Pasig nowadays (I passed over on that bridge recently and parang hindi na gaanong amoy mabantot), a seeming indication that the river could be teeming with life and reviving again, sana :yes: :okay:

but that 4 port cranes is still part of Cebu City pero that last building (Myvan Cityscapes) sa far right behind the 4th right most port crane is already part of Mandaue City...

It's just not it's time yet to shine , Metro Manila has lots of business districts it's competing with including the established ones .
Anyway, from time to time even if it's only few , there are ongoing projects being built in Alabang within FCC and MBP.
There are also lots of midrise residential projects rising within the city, so it can be counted also as construction activity there at least.

It's okay... BGC and FCC are both well planned business districts. The control and management of BGC also went to Ayala , so it's expected BGC will be ahead and its proximity to established business districts is a plus factor too.
I hope topnotch property investors will also consider locating in FCC that will sort of trigger several developments in this lone major business district in the southern Metro Manila.

di yan malayong mangyari, Makati + Ortigas + Global City + Eastwood + Alabang at iba pang skyscrapers sa Metro Manila ay may marami pang projects..at lalo pa ngaun na umuusad na ang ekonomiya natin (sabi nga ng iba..hehe)...:okay:

Thanks anak_mm for the great shots. MM is dense and more skyscrapers are rising. In years to come sana matalo natin ang skyscraper density ng Bangkok, Singapore o Kuala Lumpur. Against Jakarta mas marami konti siguro tayo.

In fairness to MM, for me mas densed tingnan ang highrises ng Manila kesa sa KL...may twin towers nga lang ang KL which is once a title holder.

^^parang for you ka level lang ng KL skyline ang skyline ng MM... namamayagpag na sa 10 ang score ng skyline ng MM, wag mo nang ilevel down sa skyline ng KL which is only 5 for me :D

interesting, minsan kasi from a forum discussion among jaded foreign expats, they tend to compare Thai's and Filipinos kasi they tend to observe that both seem like distant "cousins" daw, albeit with contrast in general characteristics and in culture (one expat likened Thais as "smooth" while Filipinos as "rough"). This time when it comes to skyline, it seems the other way around.

I kinda agree with this.....70's was the supremacy of Metro Manila's infrastructure and development against its neighboring SEA nations....^^

^^ A dramatic event unfolded during my flight when I took that image. A passenger, a senor citizen, suffered a heart attack and died while on the plane en route from Davao to Manila.

I recalled the passenger standing in line about to board the plane talking with the ground crew because he and his wife were unable to secure a gate pass. I overheard later as the widowed wife narrated with the quarantine officer upon landing at the Manila airport that her husband had argued with her about the gate pass. She offered to go back to the booth but he decided to do it himself. The old man scuffled his way from the airport’s last boarding gate to the hallway and to the gate pass booth.

As the plane took off the elderly passenger, most likely stressed and tired, suddenly suffered a heart attack. He was placed on the back isle of the plane. The plane crew did the necessary procedures and inquired with the passengers if doctors were on board. Eventually two doctors assisted the victim. The doctors tried to revive the suffering patient but the elderly passenger passed away during that flight.

A lady actress also happened to be on board. She approached and comforted the grieving (yet calm) wife and recited prayers from her booklet.

Reviewing back, perhaps the incident may have been avoided if airline companies recheck further their services. If the airline’s ground personnel assigned on the boarding gate had an extra crew to assist passengers especially on such events, one of their personnel could probably assist the elderly couple to do the errand for them. It was an unexpected event, but hopefully incidents like these would further be avoided by people gaining insights from these kinds of events.

condolence to the bereaved.

although the post seems out of topic but I guess it needs to go beyond that because the value of informing others may make an important difference. Based on that incident, it becomes evident for airline companies to ensure that extra ground personnel is available to assist especially elderly passengers that even just getting a gate pass for them could, it turned out, mean a life saved.
