Centrepoint used to be famous for it's elaborate, whimsical and very attractive christmas decorations, non? Don't know how they're going to pull it off now..

I guess it's rather difficult for Centrepoint to have any decorations this year as they are rushing to finish the new extension.....:yes:

ops, didn;t notice the thread. Very nice! I like how the raffles city tree turned out, consdieringh ow dissapointed i was at its daytime colour.

Swarovski's star attraction

A STAR-STUDDED feast for the eyes shone through the evening at the Heeren last night. The attraction was a 10m high Christmas tree sculpture decked with over 600 stunning crystal snowflake and crystal rain ornaments from Swarovski, costing more then $250,000.

It is the work of architect Tan Kay Ngee, known for the Singapore Management University building. Mr Tan created the tree on the module of a five pointed star, formed in tiers that taper upwards, making the tree resemble a large snowflake when seen from above. Constructed from steel frames, silver sprayed plywood and sand blasted acrylic panels, the tree changes colours at night, using a set of Philips LED Dynaflood lights.

These lights reflect off the Swarovski crystal ornaments hanging on the tree bringing out their brilliance, causing it to glow from exuberant to pastel tones in spectacular variations throughout the night.

Swarovski country manager Mabel Lim said: 'The tree is part of Swarovski's annual global Christmas tree initiative to bring sparkle into the eyes of adults and children during the festive season.'

In response to a BT appeal for suggestions as to how to improve the Orchard Road Christmas attractions, Mr Tan proposed introducing live carol singing, with artificial snow-fall and turning part of the open area into an ice skating rink like Bryant Park in New York.

I admit I have a hard time with pink and purple as I am much more comfortable with the traditional Christmas colors: red, green and gold. And that's why the tree in the Cathay shopping center looks wonderful to me. :)
