I'm curious how far up the crane can jump with the spire rapidly narrowing toward the top. Is it gonna be the use of helicopter soon?

I think the crane would stop jumping when it hits the roof? The spire itself would be too weak to support the crane itself.

Wow, I didn't realise it was actually that thin from some angles!
I think that the 'gravity ride' could possibly be inside. I thought possibly there could be individual ones that ride up on the outside of each tube, but the steel ring sticking out probably means that won't happen.

does anyone know if, or when it will be painted?
Unless it is coated in something that isn't very obvious, but ages like copper (statue of liberty)

I was thinking that too, the width of the spire gets thicker toward the bottom, so I think it might be and has to be. Otherwise the gravity ride will be so scary being on the outside of the spire. But probably less fun being in the inside though.

Great updates. I am not that excited about the sight seeing cars. I would prefer to freely walk around on a large terrace rather sitting in a box.

^^ u can still walk around and the place where the cars will be wouldnt be a place where we could walk anyways.

The cars arent really taking the place of anything else, its just an extra.

just got the news from Guangzhou daily, the ferris wheel (or the sightseeing car) will be installed on the TV tower and will be opened to public before Oct. 1st 2010, each round will take 20-40 mins. They also revealed that the gravity ride is still in negotiation.

Yes, the Guangzhou Daily confirms that it will be the highest ferris wheel in the world.


I don't think this record can be challenged by other ferris in the next couple years unless they have a similar structure as GZ tv tower's

Also I believe such a Ferris wheel will look like a pearl necklace at night, which perfectly matches the name of pearl river

^^ prolly just to play cards or sumthing. Way too small to eat on it and having lunch/dinner in such a cabit is weird. The ride might be too short, which would suck when ur halfway ur dish and it might also be too long and its not that pleasant to have a finished plate there for 30 minutes.

another thing is that they can never make the food fast enough before you get into the cabin. So yea, it's just to put your cards down or to have a drink at most.
