Arak 40MW nuclear reactor to replace Tehran 5MW reactor
TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (MNA) – Arak’s 40-megawatt heavy water research reactor will replace Tehran’s 5-megawatt reactor which is over thirty years old, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Director Reza Aqazadeh said here on Saturday.

“Tehran’s reactor will be turned off by the time that Arak’s reactor is started up,” Aqazadeh told the Iranian Students News Agency.

Arak research reactor is due for completion in 2009 and will make isotopes for medical, industrial, and other peaceful uses.

Aqazadeh said the work on the Arak reactor will continue whether the agency provides technical assistance or not.

Iran repeatedly requested the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) last year for technical expertise to ensure the Arak reactor meets safety standards, he added.

“The request is not necessarily for technical cooperation. The agency normally provides technical assistance to ensure the safety of reactors,” he said.

An IAEA technical team has agreed to cooperate with Iran in Arak project, he noted. “It is the agency that insists Iran should cooperate with it on the safety standards of the reactor.”

There are certain countries on the IAEA Board of Governors that are trying to prevent the UN nuclear watchdog from providing the assistance, he said, adding, “It will be more harmful to the agency if it refuses assistance.”

Diplomats from nations on the IAEA board say the United States is lobbying hard for the denial of Iran’s request for help on its Arak research reactor.

IAEA experts say that there is no legal reason to deny Iran the aid at Arak – one of 12 projects Iran has submitted for possible technical assistance but the only one Washington is trying to block.

Russia to build Iran atomic plant on time - Kiriyenko

By Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia is committed to completing the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran on time, the Atomic Energy Agency chief was quoted by RIA news agency as saying on Sunday.

"Russia is carrying out its contract to build the nuclear power plant under the existing schedule," Sergei Kiriyenko, now on a visit to Iran, said during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, according to RIA.

"If there are no problems ... with financing the project or delivering equipment from the third countries, we see no problems or complications in fulfilling the construction schedule on time," he added.

Kiriyenko did not elaborate.

Moscow announced last September that nuclear fuel would be delivered to Bushehr in March 2007, the reactor would start up in September and that electricity generated from it would be sent to a power grid in November.

Iranian engineers building new nuclear power plant: official
TEHRAN, March 7 (MNA) – For the first time Iranian experts are building a nuclear power plant, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Gholamreza Aqazadeh said here on Tuesday.

The plant will have a capacity of 360 megawatts.

“Iran has become technically independent,” Aqazadeh stated in a congress on Imam Hussein and resistance.

Certain countries tried to hinder Iran’s access to nuclear technology by not honoring their commitments, but “now Iran is among the world’s nuclear countries.”

Construction began on the order of President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, the vice president added.

Bushehr Back Up Systems Inaugurated

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- The back up systems of Bushehr nuclear power plant were inaugurated in Iran's southern province of Bushehr on Tuesday in the presence of the Iranian first Vice-President, Parviz Dawoodi.

http://media.farsnews.com/Media/8512/Images/jpg/A0269/A0269798.jpg

The systems, which include a pumping center and a 400-kilowat power post, were due to be inaugurated in Bushehr on March 3, 2007 in the presence of the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO), Gholam Reza Aghazadeh, but the inauguration ceremony was postponed to an unspecified date due to unknown reasons.

Russia undertook to deliver fuel to Bushehr power plant in March and launch operation of the first phase of the project in the coming September, but it later claimed that financial problems would deter the prompt dispatch of fuel cargoes and operation of the power plant.

Earlier, deputy head of IAEO Mohammad Sa'eedi announced that there were no financial, legal or technical obstacles to delivering nuclear fuel to Iran.

"We hope the Russian government delivers the fuel for the plant to Iran by the end of March 2007," he added.

Sa'eedi met Atomstroiexport executives in Moscow last month in an effort to resolve what Moscow has called a financial dispute over construction of the much-delayed Bushehr station in southern Iran.

He denied reports that the Moscow meeting had failed after the talks ended without agreement. Negotiations continued in Tehran a week later.

Prior to the Tehran talks, Sa'eedi said that Tehran would "offer suggestions".

Under a Tehran-Moscow deal reached last September, Russia was to deliver nuclear fuel to Iran in March, the power station would begin working in September and it would start producing energy in November.

Sa'eedi also mentioned that all the needed grounds have been paved for the dispatch of nuclear fuel to Bushehr, warning that in case the delivery does not take place, the contract is violated both technically and legally.

TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a “special proposal” on Iran’s nuclear program which is currently under study, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani said here on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with ideological-political members of the Islamic Republic army, Larijani said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also said that the proposal is “ponderable.”

Iranian officials held constructive talks with the Russian president over the launch of Bushehr nuclear power plant on the sidelines of Caspian Sea littoral states summit held in Tehran on Tuesday, he said, adding that the station will be inaugurated in the near future.

Commenting on the country’s nuclear negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Larijani said that Iran has taken significant steps in cooperation with the IAEA and is currently implementing the agreed modality plan, Larijani insisted.

Under the Aug. 21 deal, Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency agreed on a timetable for addressing the remaining ambiguities about Iran’s nuclear activities. The IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei called the agreement "an important step in the right direction."

“Our main job is with the agency”, Larijani reiterated, adding that the IAEA inspectors are due in Tehran in coming days.

The top security official told reporters that he is to hold talks with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana next week to discuss the remaining issues in regard to the country’s nuclear activities.

TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (MNA) – The deputy head of Iran Power Development Company (IPDC) announced here on Saturday that talks with Saudi Arabia and Malaysia on establishment of two power plants in Fars and Zanjan provinces are underway.

The power plants will be built on the build-own-operate (BOO) or build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis, terming it a novel strategy in the country’s energy sector, Mostafa Ali-Rabbani told MNA.

The first private BOT power station was 954MW South Isfahan, he recalled, calling similar projects economical.

The official predicted a great presence of foreign and domestic private organizations in the projects in near future in line with enforcement of the Article 44 of the Constitution.

Referring to the facilities and guarantees that the Ministry of Energy gives to the investors, the deputy head of IPDC announced Iran did not witness such supports in the past five years.

Within the first four months of the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2007), 10 power stations became operational with a 1,592MW capacity.

Sinohydro inks $2 bn deal to build Iran dam: report
AFP (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5iWSGPKuUmIfXiBkYaS8H4VVjT0fw?docId=CNG.3641de91692aec1290b0de964b9cbeb6.1b1) | March 15, 2011

Chinese company Sinohydro has signed a $2 billion deal to build a hydroelectric dam in Iran's southwest, state media reported on Monday. Under the contract signed with Iran's Farabi, Sinohydro will construct a 315-metre (1,033 feet) high dam with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts on the border between Lorestan and Khuzestan provinces, said the website of state television.

China and Iran have become major economic partners in recent years, partly thanks to the withdrawal of Western companies in line with sanctions against the Islamic republic over its contentious nuclear drive. Annual trade between the two nations is worth about $30 billion, according to Assadollah Asgaroladi, director of the Sino-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, who added the target was to raise this to $100 billion.

Last month, an Iranian public company said it signed a contract valued at about $13 billion with China to build more than 5,300 kilometres (3,300 miles) of railway lines in the country. China has also significantly strengthened its presence in Iran's oil and gas sector by signing a series of contracts, in place of companies from the West and even Japan.

Iran is OPEC's second largest oil exporter, and also has the second largest gas reserves in the world after Russia.

they just build without thinking about 10 years ahead, they just build so they say "keshvaro darim misazim", just like the shiraz esfahan railway, these projects are jokes, useless , more like painkillers, but not problesm solvers

nd im no shah lover, but honestly in zaman shahs time they built something proper and its been working from that time, soo many factories and railways and roads, they were all planned and didnt harm the country

these guys build 1000000s of stuff and only a portion of it is useful
