I hate Shalom Tower. Looks too boxy and they tried too hard with cladding. The Jewish Community one is quite nice though. Looks more of an office building though.

I am not sure about the Shalom Tower, I do not like it (maybe due to poor quality pics).

The Jewish Community Tower rocks though! A great design!

Shalom is nice for a box-type, but somehow i don't like the color scheme - it seems as if its trying to look old or 1960's.

2nd tower is nice. If there was a competition for which tower to be built the second would win in aesthetics.

My thoughts exactly. It will be dangerously easy to screw the tower up using even slightly inappriopriate colours.

I'm a big fan of Warsaw's skyline, but this Shalom tower is simply wrong. The cladding is horrible. They shouldn't build it.

But, as everybody else said, the Jewish Community tower is much better, and it really fits with the other skyscrapers in Warsaw.

what would the contribution of Jewish community look like? are they going to destine some money to the construction? The second project looks pretty exciting while the first one is gruesome.

Both projects are interesting,it could diverse Warsaw skyline which seems to be rather uniform

Shalom Tower project was bought by Hines few weeks ago and there is a new design of the tower made by Helmut Jahn from Murphy/Jahn Architects.

This is the early concept of the tower.

Hines today applied for building permit when this is construction should begin within a few weeks of it being granted. By Law the Warsaw municipality have 65 days in which to approve or decline the permit after the permit is signed it takes one month to become lawfull document and become valid for 4 years, during this month all parties that are effected in some way by the construction have time to protest against the building permit being valid. The 160m tower is designed by Helmut/Jahn construction should take 24 months after comencing. So we can expect the tower to be complete around Q4 2010/ Q1 2011

do any of you know the plans or proposals for Rotunda.... the PKO building...... that circular building in front of the Universal building..... which is probably the most cetral location and yet the ugliest part of warsaw!!

It is so called eastern wall (3 same towers along the east side of Marszalkowska st.) Building any tower at this place would ruin the good urban concept of east wall. There are now few other high rise projects along east wall waiting for building permits and all will be rejected - I think.

Thanks for the info.... I would question however the fact that those 3 ugly grey towers to the east of Marszałkowska are a 'good urban concept'..... maybe in 1970s they were! Also, does the Novotel not interpupt this eastern Wall concept?

Information on the first page is absolutely wrong, there is no connection between developer and jewish society in this case. JCW (Jewish Community of Warsaw) has planned another skyscraper just next to Hines Tower, however still they didn't get all the necessary permissions to strat the construction and according to unofficial statement of the community they won't begin even the spade work during next few months. To clarify this problematic situation take a look at the picture shown below, I marked Hines Tower by red point and JCW Tower by green point:
