Amazing amount of light coming out of this. Presume it's just the fully lighting test phase.
shard97 April 28th, 2012, 08:11 PM why is this still in the construction forum? it was finished quite a while ago.....
mogwai83 April 28th, 2012, 08:54 PM wrong, still isn't finished.
Langur May 6th, 2012, 03:27 PM Sushisamba have released images of the restaurant terrace, opening this summer:

danm May 6th, 2012, 05:20 PM Wow. This will be brilliant, stunning views on warm summer nights
stevekeiretsu May 6th, 2012, 11:12 PM I might even force down some sushi (which I hate) for those views.
PadArch May 7th, 2012, 12:55 PM LOL
seriously tho, they have some nice promo graphics.. if it looks anything near as nice as that i'll be visiting it on the regular
JLAG May 7th, 2012, 08:59 PM What a spectacular view. I am not a big fan of sushi either but I think I could eat anything with that view.
mogwai83 May 7th, 2012, 09:32 PM There were words on that website too, they were the squiggly bits surrounding the pretty pictures... Sushi isn't the only option up there...
SUSHISAMBA will debut its first European location in London in the summer of 2012. Located in the top three floors of the Heron Tower, SUSHISAMBA promises to deliver a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, culture, music and striking design to the City of London.
Two outdoor terraces will flank the restaurant, offering unparalleled views of the cityscape. Award-winning architects Cetra Ruddy will design the restaurant’s 13,423-square-foot (1,247-square-meter) space, which will have direct access via two scenic elevators from a dedicated entrance on Bishopsgate. The space will offer two restaurants serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and include outdoor dining, a bar and lounge, and premier event space.

Cabman May 8th, 2012, 09:59 AM wrong, still isn't finished.
Wrong it is finished. IMO it is finished as internal fitting doesn't count as construction. Rightly this thread remains here untill the restaurant opens and a few forumers can get some money shots.
anonymous1 May 8th, 2012, 11:59 PM I wish there was a more specific opening date for Sushi Samba. Summer is too vague, and I'd like to make a booking before my tenancy in London runs out and I'm homeless
Anonymous-scraperfan May 9th, 2012, 06:24 PM I thought this thread is still here because there is no forum for completed buildings, well none that i could find, I could be wrong though.
Core Rising May 9th, 2012, 06:42 PM I thought this thread is still here because there is no forum for completed buildings, well none that i could find, I could be wrong though.
There is. This should probably be moved there as it is complete as far as I am aware.

adejola99 June 11th, 2012, 08:20 PM Is anyone voting for Heron tower in todays eurocup competition?
I love the building, its one of my favourites in london.
gegloma01 June 11th, 2012, 08:25 PM What a spectacular view.
What view? On North London? What's worth seeing?
gegloma01 June 11th, 2012, 08:27 PM why is this still in the construction forum? it was finished quite a while ago.....
Yes it is finished and occupied.
The problem is that there is no mod. Hopefully, T42 is no longer in the construction thread.
JD47 June 11th, 2012, 08:38 PM That is some view and the Shard should look clas from up there.
Langur June 11th, 2012, 09:21 PM I wish there was a more specific opening date for Sushi Samba. Summer is too vague, and I'd like to make a booking before my tenancy in London runs out and I'm homeless :cry:It has slipped again, but not by far. It's now scheduled for early July.
The Champ June 15th, 2012, 01:11 PM I came past on Weds and they were applying some stickers over the ground floor windows advertising the bar/restaurant with 'Opening Summer 2012' on it
Maulbeere July 8th, 2012, 06:21 PM Does anyone know when is SushiSamba opening!? Or is it open!?

flare July 10th, 2012, 06:03 PM Response from an email I sent them:
"Thank you for your email enquiring about more information of our new SUSHISAMBA London restaurant which celebrates the rich culinary and cultural diversity of Peru, Japan, and Brazil.
Further to your last e-mail, we anticipate opening in mid July 2012. We are however, already able to make reservations for August 2012. Please contact us if you would like to make a reservation now.
I apologise for not being able to give you an exact opening date as yet, and we would like to thank you for your patience. As soon as we have a more definitive date of opening, we will let you know, as we have placed your details on our Priority Information Mailing List.
Also, the bar is a first come first served only area."
shadyron July 19th, 2012, 02:07 PM Just spoken with the reservations people there and they're now taking bookings. They'll apparently be open in the next few days but it sounds like it's still going to be touch and go on that as they're not actually taking any bookings for July at the moment.
The restaurant (and bar and whatever else it is) is only on fl 37 & 38, so not quite the full height of the building :(
Details here on how to book: http://sushisamba.com/location/london/
I'd guess that, as usual, costs will be from the "Are you mental?" school of pricing.
Inchhigh July 19th, 2012, 02:31 PM I've just booked a table for 7th August........better start saving up to pay for it!!
musefreek July 19th, 2012, 02:51 PM Just got them to email me the menu. £125 per person.
MENTAL!
London doesn't seem to be for Londoners anymore.
Legal Beagle July 19th, 2012, 03:20 PM I bet you there will be a no pictures policy.

thedurringtondoctor July 19th, 2012, 03:28 PM What do you expect from somewhere called sushi samba? Next they will be serving some marketing shit called monkey shoulder. No really.

That is for the Set Menu of which there are three at £60, £70 and £125 when you have a party booking of 15+.
You do not need to eat from that menu, the online reservation system estimated £26-40 per head, but the woman on the phone actually estimated £50-60 with a couple drinks.
So your post seems abit of an over-reaction unless Im missing something else out.

It's still expensive as hell. The A la carte menu will be even more than the set menu.

Expensive yes
There appears however to be a cheaper option so I thought I would counteract your post which seems to imply that its £125 minimum to go and eat there. This is a skyscraper site and I'm sure many people are probably intrested in going up there for a meal, even if they have to eat from a lesser menu.

What the? 125 per a person- just crazy prices! :ohno:
eddyk July 20th, 2012, 11:25 PM Did you read maybe... the next post?
Sushi Samba isn't Yo Sushi... its a Fine Dining on top of a skyscraper in the middle of London.

Exactly. £50 for a nice meal and a couple of glasses of wine is actually pretty normal.
cnapan July 22nd, 2012, 07:05 PM I hope the food at Sushi Samba is better than their website, which is a slow and crap joke. So much for brand values.
We'll probably try them out, because google managed to find a picture of a bar with a tree in it, which isn't something you'd expect to find on the 40th floor of a building (or the ground floor for that matter).
There was also a picture of a roof terrace. There might be 10 days this year where that's an attractive prospect - tomorrow being one of them.
Legal Beagle July 24th, 2012, 05:24 PM There will also be Duck & Waffle - a 24hr 7day a week restaurant opening on the 40th floor - this appears to have been overlooked

Cat man do July 24th, 2012, 11:11 PM Will be nice to have a pub up there
11001001 July 28th, 2012, 02:34 PM Just checked and they are opening tonight, anyone going?

LostJohnny August 9th, 2012, 10:49 PM I wanted to chip in - just went up tonight as my Dad was visiting - people were discussing prices and stuff- I just went up and had beer - a little on the pricey side, but £12 for two beers is cheaper than a £50 meal.
If you're going up there , be sure to go early as by the time we came out around 7ish there was a queue forming.

Langur September 4th, 2012, 03:53 PM I went up to the Duck & Waffle and SushiSamba a few days ago. They're spread over three floors: 38, 39, and 40. The glass lifts give amazing views, and are very swift. The views are great, though you won't be able to see the Shard once 122 Leadenhall is complete. The decor is a little bit OTT in my view. SushiSamba's lounge bar on floor 39 has a wooden grids of shelving partially blocking the window views, which is absolutely crazy. However the food was better value than I thought. My beer was £5, and I got 8x pieces of highly original sushi for £15 which is pretty reasonable imo.
