Hei.

The local government in the municipality of Time in Rogaland have now desided that the 64-meter-high building, Signalbygget , has a "local" enough design to be built. It has earlier been disagreement, because some of the politicians ment that the building haven't enough local looking. Therefore did the architects make a new plan.
If the building shall be built, it will be in a new district of Bryne.
Bryne is a small, but very fast growing city in Norway. It has around 8.500 people, and will soon be the 4. largest city in Rogaland. It's located in the middle of Jæren, 35 km south of Stavanger.

This is the first proposal;

high: 61 m
floors: 17
10 000 m2
price estimate: 150 million NOK.

The new proposal;

The district has a area at 30 000 m2.
It will also be built two secondary school, a new library and a national Garborg center (after the local writer, Arne Garborg).

Nice! But you should post this in the Project & Construction section. I have already some info about the building on the Norwegian construction thread.

Btw, this will not be the tallest building in Rogaland, as Rice Forum Hotel in Stavanger is taller. This building will be the tallest in the region called Jæren, its the lowlands south of Stavanger and Sandnes. :)

I kind of like this one, it is different. The gardens are pretty cool. :)

Will this be an office tower?

this will not be the largest building in Rogaland.
Rica Park (Stavanger - 22 stories) , Rosenli blokkene (Stavanger) 18 and 19 stories , St Olavs blokkene 18 and 19 stories and the residential highrise in Kristianslyst with 18 stories.

Bryne is not going to be the 4th largest town in rogaland in the future when stavanger - Sandnes - haugesund - egersund are larger.

One of the best good-looking highrise proposal I've seen so far in scadinavia.

Amazing design! Impressive work for such a small town (almost a village). So far it's my favourite scandi design. :)

Interesting to see that new tall buildings get suggested in the aggricultural landscape of Jæren. This is a positive respond to the highrise at Bryne. This time neigbohr town Nærbø is looking to the sky.

I had been 16 years old for like 3 months when i wrote this, and already then i knew that an office floor is higher than an apartment floor. The Rosenli towers have 18 & 19 stories, but are about 50 meters high. (i know, i've lived there)

The signal tower in Bryne was finished in november last year, it has 18 floors and is 65,4 meters high. The highest standing roof in Rogaland (the spire on Rica Forum is 20 m)

And when it comes to Bryne as the 4th largest town in Rogaland, i'll still say that this will happen before 2020.

By/tettsted 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
Stavanger* 127 704 129 010 131 003 133 580 136 508 139 119
Sandnes 43 638 44 122 46 334 47 700 49 405 50 709
Haugesund 40 271 40 321 40 685 41 183 42 112 42 850
Egersund 9 489 9 502 9 528 9 707 10 226 10 397
Ålgård/Figgjo 8 471 8 448 8 636 8 746 8 927 9 144
Bryne 7 789 8 006 8 618 8 881 9 339 9 627

* Inkludert sammenhengende bebyggelse i deler av Sola og Randaberg

as you can see Bryne has a much higher yearly growth than Egersund. in these years from 2004 to 2009 Bryne had yearly average population growth of 367,6 people, Egersund has 181,6. Bryne do also have a higher density than Egersund.

It's like the baby of Postgirobygget and Økern senter, not really a big hit when it comes to putting the small town on the map in a positive way, like Seilet has done for Molde. It was one of the top 10 "ugly buildings" in the nrk-contest.

Frankly would have been better to build something like that in Haugesund... Why the hell haven't we done that yet! :nuts:

There has been proven time and again that anytime a Norwegian town wants tall buildings near any historic structure this will be declined by the Government branch of heritage protection. Such as Skien (Church.), Kristiansund (Theatre.), Tønsberg (Castle.), Oslo (School.) I guess no such structures are present in Bryne centre. But Haugesund would certainly be in danger from such powers if they were to build tall buildings downtown.

No, not really, the highrise is no more than mediocre, the only thing i like is that it will take over some wasteland left from the herring era, i honestly think it looks a bit halfassed.
