Good progress there, nice cladding!!

Outstanding pictures Retrograde!! I was in the city this weekend. But couldn't get any pictures.

I noticed something odd on the north east side of the building with the cladding. Yesterday, while on my way to work I noticed that they just about finished cladding on the 14th floor. But, today I noticed that they removed about 6 of the pannels on the northeast side of the 14th floor? Perhaps the alignment for the cladding was partly off and they ended up having to redo it?

I love the letters on it it kinda makes it seem like Chicago has its own times square.

Facade is simply beautiful...

The next transfer floor (if thats what you were talking about regarding hardest work) is fast approaching though which will take another 1-2 months to build like the first one. This is according to someone who works on the tower.

I don't know. I suppose it could be residential. That upper section could have its own separate elevator that people transfer to from the main elevator. You know that I added those top 5 floors, right? I think Trump should just add this on since he's goning to 96 as it is. Then Chicago (and North America) will get another 100= floor building.

simply breath taking is this building in the Windy city, the cladding looks superb and the location is just so suitable for a skyscraper of this proportion. I llike how the bridges and river connect the environment and buildings together, this being the centrpoint pinnacle attraction.

Not to trail off topic …that McDonalds in that picture in fairly new actually. It's a re-model of what was once called "The Rock n' Roll McDonalds". The RnR McD's had a sort of 70’s rock theme going for it with pictures of Elvis and the Beatles and even some memorabilia from them and other various artists. This new one is the fanciest McD’s I’ve been in. You have plasma TV playing the same ol’ crap over and over while you eat some of the tables have so light show thing going on with them. Did I mention it’s two stories! Sorry folks no dollar menu at this location and expect to pay a little more for your meal than you would out in the suburbs. :cheers:

anybody have any idea when the Trump Tower Toronto will get underway?

I remember a McDonalds in Harbor City, Calif it has 2 stories and a huge FISH TANK in the middle. One down the street from me near Knott's has only 1 story but a model train zipping along near the ceiling. I think it is Effen Vodka????? Sorry for the off topicness.

It appears that the large square columns are continuing all the way up. I see the smaller round columns at the setback. This looks like one tough building.....

The pic with only the part above the setback is absolutely stunning. Seeing the background is amazing and causes alot of replies about McDonalds!!!!

Well, snow does reflect the sunlight, so basically the tower is geting a double does of sun.

That's because it's been freezing in Chicago for the last 3.5 weeks. We had an uncharacteristically cold spell come through that just wouldn't abate. Look for temperatures--and Trump--to rise in the coming weeks.

im currently in LA. it almost hit 90F. its hell.

With the snow its so much brighter you can see good at night.

And the towers about to slow down when it hits another Mech floor.

Great Pictures Retrograde! The Cladding really flew up during this month but, the building still remains at floor 24. Trump Tower has been at floor 24 for the last three weeks or so. I think it may be too cold over here in Chicago for any concrete pouring; that may be the reason why the building isn't getting any taller. Still the building is showing great progress. Dispite the hellish traffic on Michigan Ave. on my way to work I still love passing by it every morning.

Yes Burj Dubai.

Except burj has some radial symmetry while this has none . . . the only really striking resemblance I can see is in the cladding. This building is made to fit in with the flat-topped broad-shouldered Chicago buildings, while burj is designed to be the centerpiece of a giant development complex. Both do well in their respective categories, but neither one is really a favorite of mine.

I don't know the details of Donald Trump's new Seattle Trump Tower yet. He just announced on Seattle Times Newspaper today. He said he is looking for the site at downtown Seattle. Also he just hired an architect from NBBJ. He hasn't say anything about the height yet. This development will be luxury five stars hotel-condo project.

You rock Retrograde thanks for the awsome updates! Hmmm I think they are already starting to work on the mechanical levels. This section of the building only has twelve floors and in the pics above it clearly shows ten of the twelve floors already constructed and poured. I made a quick cheep photoshop floor count just to make sure.

I agree. That shot is destined to become iconic Chicago when the tower is complete. The El tracks, Wabash Street and a supertall at the end. Amazing.

Absolutely perfect post, you hit the nail right on the head; Both cities are amazing and are not just unique between the two, but also unique together in that very few other cities can compare with NYC and Chicago in terms of both their skylines and their respective urbanity as well. This building will also make the skyline even better when it's completed; already it fits in quite nicely with it's surroundings, imagine how great it will be when it's finished! :nuts:

I was just looking at the Trump Webcam and came across that there is light inside the tower. Seems like a waist of energy to keep the lights on if no one is home... Does construction continue at night too?

The floor area is smaller. The workers have already completed the first transfer floor so they are more experienced in knowing what they are doing. Just a theory but hopefully I am right. Actually, there is a guy on SSP (JuniorReb, I believe) that works on the tower that said that this next transfer floor will take approx. 61 days to complete.

I'm just interested what do they do so special that it takes 10x~ more time to complete a mech floor than a normal floor. the concrete should set approx the same time as normal floor so where the is the extra x9 that is needed.

Reconfiguration? they need to reconfig all the core, all the pillars, the walls, the beams, the everything. just to settle the uncoming 4X (dunno how many floors on this section)floors

They have a shit load of beams that trasfere the weight down, complex stuff. Also im not sure how think the slab is but i think its around 3 times thicker then a normal floor.

I was basically joking when I made my "unacceptable" comment, although I do hate waiting 2 months. So with the start of summer (meteorological), so shall start again the rise of Trump.
