Alexander Keith's is no longer HQed here. All they have is a sales/PR staff and a production facility. They are now owned by a Brazilian megabrewery outfit, InBev, with all corporate stuff done out of Toronto or the USA.

.ca is the Canadian "Internet country code top-level domain", as wikipedia puts it. It's up to the company/person whether or not they want their website to end with .ca.

Ven-Rez (http://www.venrez.ca/) - I think anyone in Halifax is familiar with their products :D . Ven-Rez makes generic furniture that can be found in any library, university, school, auditorium, or church in the city (very popular with the government). They're located in Shelburne.

Was there discussions re: Sobeys relocating to HRM? Any others?
They don't have any plans currently to relocate. I forget where I read this, but apparently when the Ontario government tried to lure them over a few years back, they said that if they were to relocate at all, they would rather move to Halifax.

Very cool looking company . Never knew about a nova scotian company making classroom furniture or office furniture. As too the relocation thing the ontario government offered Sobeys 30 million to move their corporate head quarters to ontario.

Really in many cases relocation is not an option when you have a company over 30 years old. The work force is specialized , the skills are developed here and in the case of a move to ontario the costs go up because the cost of living is much higher. There is something be said for regional loyality and many a company in the maritimes has shown that you can be come very successful on a provincial , regional, national and international basis.

I hope Sobeys stays in Pictou county.
