- Villas around course.
- 5 Star hotel and 4 star hotel.
- Newly constructed Medina and Kasbah.
- Modern shopping mall.
- Large artificial lake.

I just couldnt believe the gravity of the project and the effect it will have on Marrakech on less than 300 hectares.

Im sorry, I thought it was a formula One circuit but it is simply a rallye course. It would be nice if it was one though.

Since then construction of Morocco Film City should be in progress, it would be nice to know if anybody has seen it and maybe had taken some pictures.

In google earth everything still looks like nothing has happend, but again the pictures could be several years old...

The PDF's on the site are kinda large and they're not opening for some reason. Can anyone extract renderings/info from it and post here if possible?

What's the main objective of this "Film City"... is it a studio freezone of some sort, with the golf course, villas and racetrack as additional components?

I know that there was a problem with the location of the project and the government invited the investors to find a new location for the project. As a result, Im not sure what the status of the project is.

Morocco Film City
Morocco Film City (MFC) est un projet immobilier de grande envergure. Il s'agit d'un gigantesque parc de divertissement et d'attractions, axé sur le monde du cinéma. Situé à Marrakech, au Maroc, il sera construit à la manière des studios Universal de Hollywood. L'endroit offrira tout ce dont les amateurs de films et de divertissements peuvent rêver, des complexes hôteliers, des restaurants, des parcours de golf, des magasins, de grands jardins et bien sûr des studios où l'on pourra voir comment un film est réalisé.

MFC est un projet que Castro Khatib trouve très excitant, tout comme ses partenaires russes, qui sont à la tête de cette initiative avec divers investisseurs (famille et amis), des banques et des financiers. Le choix du Maroc pour installer ce parc est en cohérence avec la tradition cinématographique de ce pays, rappelant les grandes heures d’Ingrid Bergman et Humphrey Bogart dans Casablanca. La situation géographique du Maroc, avec ses grandes étendues de terrain accessibles, fait partie des aspects qui ont joué en faveur de ce projet.



Ce projet est colossal et complexe. Les coûts, au total, sont estimés à 1,2 milliards d'euros (Oliver Wyman, Humberts leisure et Tenon Group). Plusieurs architectes, designers et constructeurs sont impliqués : Grant Leisure, Wyatt Design Group, WSP, Baker Wilkins, Global Universal pour ne nommer que certains d'entre eux.


Les complexes comprennent tout ce qui est nécessaire à la production de films : studios d’intérieur, studios d'extérieur, studios de post-production pour le son et le montage par exemple, secteurs dédiés aux costumes, au maquillage et aux décors... Un projet d'école de film intégrée à MFC est également à l'étude.

La « médina » est le nom qui désigne plusieurs bâtiments du futur parc, comme le centre commercial, les musées, restaurants, hôtels classés, spas, terrains de golf et bien d'autres choses encore. Le centre MFC comprendra également des logements privés, appartements et villas.

Le projet, en début de développement, prendra plusieurs années à être réalisé, de l'esquisse du parc à sa construction finie. La conjoncture économique mondiale a aussi tendance à affecter l'agenda de ce projet complexe et de grande envergure.

Under the direction of Grant Leisure, a world-class team was assembled to conduct the feasibility study for this stunning mixed-use project near Marrakech. This 650-hectare, $1.1 billion project will feature a fully operating film studio complex, film-based theme park, four five-star hotels, casino, commercial and retail space, golf course, motor racing circuit, sports and leisure activities, a world-championship tennis stadium, plus residential units in a variety of design formats.

Morocco Film City will include Marrakech’s first major film studio. In addition, there will be a full-sized themed park with rides and attractions for the 10 million visitors who are expected to come to Morocco by 2010, when the project will be opening.

Malheureusement ce projet ne va pas se concretiser. Il y a presque deux ans que le gouvernement a decouvert que les promoteurs du projets etaient des escrots.

Vu la qualite du rendu, j'ai du mal a croire que ce projet tient encore ! pour les articles dipo sur le nt, ceux qui datent de 2008 ne different en rien de ceux redige 2 ans apres..
