After 58 years, The Pavilion on Myrtle Beach is going away. Park is already closed. A final goodbye photo thread.

My earliest memory of Myrtle Beach includes the Pavilion. Thanks for the farewell photo tour, gsupstate.

*sigh* Moment of silence...

So sad. Yet I'm so glad the family and I went there in June of 2005. We broke down and bought the all day stamps and rode every ride there. Oddly one of my twin sons just loved the haunted house and went in six times. The rest of the time it was bumper cars and the water rides. I stayed on shore once and when the family was on the river ride I payed the money to shoot them with those water cannons.

I wonder if the rides will be sold and moved?

This literally brings me to tears. The Pavilion was such an integral part of my childhood

Ahh, the SwampFox. Myrtle Beach is not that far from my parent's crib in NC (50 minute drive). So, I was always down there. From a toddler to dates, the Pavilion has too many memories. Man, times have a changed, I was just there Thanksgiving, of course playing golf. Sad, so sad.......

North Myrtle is growing as well, poor ol' Atlantic Beach, it's just a matter of time before the big sucking sound hits.

Yeah, those are good photos. It is sad though. :(
A bunch of high-rise condos and retail/hotels will be built on the Pavilion when it's demolished, right?

Wow I'm suprised this will finally be closing. I used to visit there as a kid. I haven't been since about 1997 though. I'm sure the beach area is growing and changing. Hope to visit MB in about a year...although I live in Tampa Florida now, so driving several hours to go to the beach just seems silly!

I've never been there, but it's always sad to see a nostalgic place close up.
