By the way, is the Dubai Municipality going to fix the roads leading to this tower, millennium tower, etc.? And do you guys think that it will be similar to the original sky scrapers in SZR in terms of street level shops, restaurants, etc.?

i have my doubts on the restaurant and shops thing, however the road will be fixed for sure.

Restaaurants are concentrated where offices are, so don't expect any lively street life in this row of buildings, same as the part of SZR where ROse Rotana is.

All I could see was a rectangular with slight curved edges, dark glass building with a healthclub on top but no spire or roof feature.

They have positioned to face SZR when you come towards Dubai so is difficult to see it if you're driving from the oposite side. I come back to Dubai in the evening and becouse the board is not iluminated, you can't see anything.

The reason for the "fast" piling are

1. No underground floors
2. No perimeter/diafragm wall constructed around the pit.

BTW a crane has been erected on site since a couple of days ago.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but in post 71 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=21290254&postcount=71) a forumer who described themselves as the project manager stated the "height of the tower will be 200m, 58th floor". This doesn't exactly say "to the top of the roof structure" but it seems it's as close as we may get.

LOL unpaid for main contractor lead to remain one crane without remove it like islamic dubai bank towers also podium level still with zero progress except concrete poring !

i hope they can get some cash to remove that crane only LOL so we can moved to completed section ...
