Wu-Gambino May 28th, 2003, 01:55 AM 8.5, amazing design. Plus, it is on the river and it has a boat dock.
SteelCity32 May 28th, 2003, 03:30 AM nice towers... color isn't all that great though. 7/10
New Jack City May 28th, 2003, 04:15 AM 6/10...Look kind of like the Petronas only a skinnier version, with an awful color and minus the height.
X-seed 4000 May 28th, 2003, 08:06 AM I like it's cylindrical design is pretty cool, but the color scheme needs a lifting. 7.0/10
renell May 28th, 2003, 05:42 PM 6/10 not my liking.. but IT IS built in the 60's
RafflesCity May 29th, 2003, 01:49 AM 6.5/10
Those balconies give it a nice flowery shape..but its kinda bare.

A classic Chitown scraper. This is the best residential tower I have seen in person.

7 World Trade July 22nd, 2004, 07:42 AM cool and unique architecture, but the color's sorta dull. they should spice it up a bit.

Any twin towers of this height with a boat dock deservers a perfect score. Plus, Its just perfect.
DarkFenX May 28th, 2005, 07:56 AM Dont like it at all. I think the shape stink and the parking lot makes the building uglier. 4/10
starbuc jupiter May 28th, 2005, 08:23 AM I give them a 9
If I did not drive often I would want to live in it. It's cool!
Getting the car in and out of there has got to be hell. That last layer of the parking deck is a long way around.
NYC2ORDGuy May 28th, 2005, 09:29 AM 10/10
And not just 'cause I'm moving there on Wednesday :)
The balconies are huge. You can easily fit a table with four chairs and a full-size grill on them, with room to spare. They're simply continuations of the concrete floor plate from within the building.
Don't worry about the parking, it's valet. It's always been that way because the railings on the parking decks are only about three feet high.
Coolest thing: laundry rooms are on the 20th floors with panoramic views of the Loop across the river.
sdtj May 28th, 2005, 12:22 PM I love Marina City Towers, a Chitown icon...

Very nice building, but the parking lot let it down a little, and it dosen't say Chicago as clearly to me, the big balconies remind me of buildings on the Gold Coast (Australia).
atkinson1 May 28th, 2005, 02:01 PM I love them. 10.
Azn_chi_boi May 28th, 2005, 02:08 PM 10... looks like hair braids too. The people in chinatown call this tower the corn building lol.

The best attempt to build George Jetson's apartment building here on Earth. Unique. I wouldn't mind living there at all.

It was considered innovative in 1960s.
Today, it is a classic Chicago icon.
ChiLooper February 21st, 2006, 06:16 AM 10/10
Messed Up June 14th, 2006, 07:52 AM Its hard to beleive this was built in the early 60's. It looks a lot younger than that. It has aged well. It is such a unique building and the car park's certainly add to its character. It also proves that not all of 60's modernist buildings were 'boring' boxes. Fabulous design.
Middle-Island June 16th, 2006, 08:41 AM It is such a unique building and the car park's certainly add to its character.
How in hell do cars not occasionally drive off the side?! I see the wires and a few stanchions...but still.

Westsidelife June 16th, 2006, 09:03 AM The corn-cob towers as the cruise guide referred to it...I like them and aren't they adjacent to the future Trump tower?
Messed Up June 16th, 2006, 09:09 AM Yeah they are just down the river a bit from Trump (not far). Across the road from IBM.
i_am_hydrogen June 16th, 2006, 09:13 AM The corn-cob towers as the cruise guide referred to it...I like them and aren't they adjacent to the future Trump tower?
Not adjacent, but very close. The IBM Building separates MC from Trump.

These towers are incredibly unique, and although I don't think towers like this should be built more often, they are still a landmark of Chicago.
vancouverite/to'er December 21st, 2008, 01:39 AM 9/10
A landmark indeed.
If they were refurbished with some glass balconies and modernized interiors I think it would be one of the city's most desirable places to live. Even despite the awful parkade.
Eric Offereins December 25th, 2008, 06:21 PM 8/10 I am no fan of an open car park. The balconies look very good from close, but become a dull grey mass from further.
