salman515 January 17th, 2007, 01:28 AM Found something
in one of MillenniaL posts I found this and it says the tower name is al qouds
http://www.al3nabi.net/upload/show.php?pic=87738
it doesnt look tall but maybe they change it later.
suzan January 17th, 2007, 06:01 AM Doesnt look tall? It looks tall to me!
Nice found. Very simple.
And the reflection in the glass... it is the Sheraton.
omarmakki January 17th, 2007, 12:01 PM It doesn't look that tall to me... I mean compare it to the City Centre on the right. City Centre looks quite big here, which means the tower isn't that tall. Of course as someone mentioned before, the screw up scales and ratios in renders. Well, I hope he/she was right. 'Cause I really think this one looks good! :)
Halawala January 17th, 2007, 12:38 PM I don't think this is the one. The design looks plain ugly and unoriginal--very 50's design.
superinfiniti January 17th, 2007, 12:52 PM It doesn't look like the one in this pic >>

QatPhils January 17th, 2007, 01:26 PM m tower
Hosain85 January 17th, 2007, 01:34 PM not bad, if they ever get a resolution to the israeli-palestinian conflict it would be nice to develop the gaza coastline.
btw its good to see the leaders in the gulf are the first to help out their palestinian brethren financially...
hazeem January 17th, 2007, 03:07 PM m tower
yea ....right!!
QatPhils January 17th, 2007, 03:18 PM Is it underconstruction?
Massilia January 18th, 2007, 12:29 AM Found something
in one of MillenniaL posts I found this and it says the tower name is al qouds
http://www.al3nabi.net/upload/show.php?pic=87738
it doesnt look tall but maybe they change it later.
Maybe an old proposal indeed...cause if we consider the building in the background to be City Center, the spot looks pretty much the same as the actual one on the photos!
salman515 January 18th, 2007, 12:58 AM actually it looks like its in alfardan twins place to me.
Massilia June 8th, 2008, 10:58 PM lol look at what I found ;)

Qatar Son 333 June 12th, 2008, 10:28 PM Hmmmm not such a good spot for a super tall but anything in west bay is good... i really hope now that those embasies are removed and translocated to somwhere far far far away like abu samra for example......
amnesia June 13th, 2008, 05:20 PM it would be great if they made like an "embassy village" and each embassy could be designed in the way of their country.
I wish I knew someone in the hukooma that could do something with my ideas :P
Massilia November 10th, 2008, 11:41 AM Someone had posted this render before, which is definitely a proposal for Al Quds tower:

s22.travian.ae November 12th, 2008, 10:41 AM so what is this tower ? some kind of hotel ??? since it has swimming pools in the render posted by salman.. and it was an article about hotels in Doha.... anyone ??
Massilia January 28th, 2009, 09:03 AM Guys, the big news of the day is that tenders have been issued for the foundations of the tower!!! Some companies have already replied to it.. The documents mention that the tower is 5B+G+100!
nihad January 28th, 2009, 05:02 PM wow..
Halawala January 28th, 2009, 05:18 PM Now well have 4 super-tall buildings: Dubai Towers, Barwa Tower, QNB, and now this! With the possibility of a couple in Lusail also.

suzan May 16th, 2009, 07:39 AM Oh wow. That tower is fantastic. I think someone should promote this project at the Super Tall forum!!
Thanks Massilia for the pics!
Massilia May 16th, 2009, 01:40 PM I agree Suzan, the problem is we're not actually sure this will eventually get built...hehe
Qatar Son 333 May 16th, 2009, 01:55 PM I am pretty sure inshallah this building will get built =D
Halawala May 16th, 2009, 02:32 PM I love this building; however, I think the topmost dome should be replaced by a very tall mast. This will give it more like an Empire State Building feel. Im assuming this building is more than 350 meters tall.
Massilia June 19th, 2009, 06:18 PM A piling contractor is getting ready to start work on the Al Quds plot :banana:

MIF March 8th, 2010, 10:03 AM The Enabling Works contractor AMMICO (http://www.ammico.biz) has completed its scope of works i.e. Diaphragm Wall, Anchors, Deep Excavation, Piling and Dewatering Works. Site has been handed over to Private Engineering Office and it is ready for next phase of construction.
AMMICO did Enabling Works for all 3 super skyscrpers in Doha i.e. Doha Convention Center & Tower, Qatar National Bank Headquarters Building Tower and Al Quds Tower Project.
Pictures of these three projects are available at http://www.ammico.biz
Footprint photo of upto date construction status of the project is here:

MEED reported that the Private Engineering Office is preparing to issue tender documents in March for the main construction contract on the Al Quds Endowment tower in Doha.
As per report, the contract for the 500 meters high building is expected to be worth about QAR 2.4 billion. The mixed use tower, which will be one of the tallest in the world, will have 5 underground levels for parking and 100 floors above ground.
The project has been planned for at least 3 years. In December 2006, the foundation stone was laid during a ceremony attended by the emir. Progress on the project has accelerated over the last year. The piling and foundation works contract was awarded in the Q2 of 2009 to the local Ammico Contracting Company.
The consultants working on the project include UK based Hyder Consulting and the local Arab Engineering Bureau. It is the second 500 meters plus tower planned in Doha. Qatar National Bank is in discussions with groups competing to build its 120 floor, 510 meters high headquarters.
QNB received bids from at least five groups in early November to build the tower. They include a joint venture of Beijing based China State Construction Engineering Corporation and Lebanon’s Societe d’Enterprise & de Gestion; a JV of Australia’s Grocon and the local Contraco, Australia’s Multiplex, Lebanon’s Qatari Arabian Construction Company and a JV of South Korea’s Samsung Corporation, the local Midmac Contracting Company and Belgium’s Six Construct.

MAMA MIA August 21st, 2010, 11:37 AM Hi guys, this is a dead project. It will be refilled soon. So.... froget about it!
Qatar Son 333 August 21st, 2010, 06:07 PM Well pilling is done. but from recent pictures on flickr, its exactly the same.. not much activity.
But you cant call it a dead project, this is NOT Dubai.
חבר1.0 August 30th, 2010, 05:46 AM This seems like an awful waste of money, if as I understand it, the Al Quds endowment is designed to help/benefit the Palestinians. Why is hundreds of millions of dollars being spent on a showpiece tower in Doha when the money could go directly to the Palestinian groups/organizations that the endowment is supposed to help?
I am not trying to provoke anything here; I am just confused by the purpose of this tower.

The return of the income of this Tower for eternity would help Palestinians live. :)
swerveut August 30th, 2010, 10:17 AM This looks like Sears Tower with an Arabic exterior instead of steel and glass
salman515 September 2nd, 2010, 07:27 AM according to Zawaya.com the project is canceled !!
In May 2010, the construction contract was not awarded because the project was canceled.
one other website wrote its on hold but I dont remember which.
here is the source (http://www.zawya.com/projects/project.cfm/pid150909110119/Private%20Engineering%20Office%20-%20Al%20Quds%20Endowment%20Tower,%20Doha)
Saudi guy September 20th, 2010, 06:29 AM is it still on the progress? or....
aruner82 September 26th, 2010, 11:02 AM BNC says the project is on hold:
http://bncnetwork.net/pgs/Display/ProjectDisplay.aspx?ProjectID=46411
But going by what "on hold" generally means in this region, it is more appropriate to call it cancelled.
Massilia February 5th, 2011, 11:28 PM I noticed they have removed the project board. Another sign this project might be cancelled. Such a waste.
