Never heard of this before Wings Entertainment Park in Speke by Peel

Anyone know anything about this? A good idea? Any renders? Not another factory shed type number?

Awayo December 8th, 2006, 06:00 PM Outtatown shed prospect. Peel has been promising/threatening this for several years but have not delivered yet. We'll see.
Multiplex, bowling, Frankie and Benny vomitorium, etc., etc., if it ever gets built.

A multi screen cinema has been planned for this site for some time, seems like it's starting to happen.

Nothing to do with Paul McCartney and Wings then?
Increasingly sounding more like a threat than a promise.
Probably be like the New Mersey Retail Park Phase 2 with assorted eateries to be visited en route to/from the multiplex.

Liverpool8 December 8th, 2006, 06:20 PM Just read it (love the cheese). It was written at a time when JLA was carrying 3m passengers - approximately 2 years ago? Is this really on the cards or just another Peel kite?
JUXTAPOL December 8th, 2006, 07:21 PM Don't forget the hotel shown in the plans has only recently been built on that site. So this will probably go ahead with some form of development, maybe improved on those plans...!
T0M December 8th, 2006, 07:44 PM That hotel makes a bit more sense now, it looked somewhat randomly placed in the middle of a field, but I suspect they built it knowing that the site is going to be developed in the near future. Looks like a money-spinner, Speke retail park is bursting at the seams, and this development will be good for Speke as a whole hopefully. Although they've got to loose the 'Wings' too many sanitary towel connotations..... :angel1:
Louis1986 December 8th, 2006, 08:26 PM i like the look of it
woody December 9th, 2006, 12:23 AM Wings, is a goer, the new hotel, express by Holiday Inn is to be joined another, could be a Premier Travel Inn?. This scheme has been around for a couple of years, so it looks like its about to "take off":ohno:
Pietari December 11th, 2006, 02:17 PM I think it bodes well for South Liverpool to finally be getting some of the much deserved infrastructure that was promised but omitted when places like Speke where originally conceived as a place to live and work but with little in the way of actual leisure facilities being completed or actually provided in later years.
I just hope it doesn`t go the same way as `Pleasure Island` (formerly the Liverpool IGF / Festival Gardens) - use it or loose it.
Another reason why developments like the BQT should be increasingly pushed through even if not at the prefered height.
Overall, if we can get the necessary momentum the developments will grow over time as they will just continue to be resubmitted in one form or another and investment and opportunities will continue IMHO.
Liverpool8 December 29th, 2006, 10:47 PM I think this thread should have been called development in Speke. Pity this one is being anchored by Morrisons - but hey you can't have everything
