It looks exactly as on the renders.

Except for the darker podium building maybe, which is going to darken with time passing by, anyway.

well, this is not quite correct, the highest "Tower" is the EUROPATURM with 337,5 meters, but the Commerzbank is the tallest "habitable" building.

Myself and a friend were in Frankfurt a few weeks back. We were out exploring at night, and walked past the Opernturm saw an opportunity for a bit of urban exploration.

We've posted photos of the exploration to flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/fencehopper/sets/72157615340691148/).

Unfortunately we only had one camera battery with us and wasted nearly all of it on one or two flash shots. There's quite a nice two story office space about 4 floors from the top, with an internal balcony and lots of light. It'd be a great place to work, looking out over Frankfurt. It's a pity we don't have a shot of it, but I think the roof shots make up for it.

Here are some sample shots, taken with an Olympus E-500:

We weren't invited, but we didn't pick any locks. We hopped over a 2ft wall.

It was about 2am on a Saturday night, all the workers were asleep. There were no locked doors, we literally just walked in. On our decent we spotted one worker coming out of the cabins around the back.

We took the stairs up and down, not wanting to get stuck in an under construction lift. We also didn't want to break anything, sticking by the mantra of taking only photos and leaving only footprints.

I like the simplicity of the tower. I don't really lik cities where every tower is a landmark. :)

indeed, I also do like the tower more now, than when he was on the drawings...

There's not too much to see inside so far, I suppose. But we had some Baustellenbegehungsfotos some time ago, just flipper through some pages.

With the friendly support of Schmittchen (DAF (http://www.deutsches-architektur-forum.de/forum/showpost.php?p=229528&postcount=860)), some rather unusual views of the OpernTurm:

North facade (in front of this you'll find the extended & renovated Rothschild park)
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/5025/1120opernturm.jpg

West facade, fully covered with stone now
http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/5701/1121opernturm.jpg

They started to extend the park - that ugly underground parking entry is going to disappear.

The new entry

The round corner of the base building with the arcades

New slabs for the sidewalk - probably Granite
