This arte moderne building was built in 1933 by the Toronto, Hamilton, and Buffalo Railway, which operated from 1894 to 1987.
In 1996, it was refurbished and now serves as the Hamilton GO Centre, connecting Hamilton to the Greater Toronto Area by
bus and train.

This is a fantastic collection of photos. I've been to Hamilton numerous times, but have never been to many of the neighbourhoods in this thread. My favourite is the shot of the Go train at night. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

The best tour of Hamilton I have ever seen. So many of those settings captured can trick viewers into thinking they are looking at other cities which may be considered more worldly...and not the stereotypical industrial image some of us hold.

The signs say Hamilton, but this could pass for Ottawa's Byward market:

Best Ontario city phototour I've ever seen, I think. You portrayed it very in-depth, covering everything from outer areas like Ancaster to the inner neighbourhoods and McMaster... great work!

Truly an amazingly done phototour :) Keep it up!

^^Thanks guys

Hamilton isn't very well known even to many Ontarians. A lot of people are surprised by its size and what it has to offer.

Amazing thread! Hamilton is indeed surprisingly vibrant - even Montrealish! Wouldn't mind living there someday...

Great collection of Hamilton pictures! I have been the Hamilton countless times and I'd say it is one of my favorite cities in Canada. It is unlike any other city in Canada my opinion, there is something about it as a city that is hard to describe. It's almost like Hamilton is a collage of different cities in the world, truly unique.

I've been down this route several times but this picture really captures it perfectly, this is my favorite of your pics. :)

I noticed that in the Westdale Village photo, there is a Write Impressions store. I didn't know Hamilton had one. Write Impressions just opened in Uptown Waterloo... I know they have a downtown Oakville location, though.

A truly excellent photo tour of one of my favourite Canadian cities. You have done the city proud. I've taken several friends from T.O. to check it out, starting with the awesome GO Station, and they are always amazed at Hamilton and their lack of knowledge about it's incredible architectural heritage. I myself was unaware of the Stinson neighbourhood and look forward to exploring it in depth in the near future. I hope you are able to take another photo from the top of Clappison Cut on a clear day. It is without a doubt one of the best vistas (and least known) views of Hamilton.

Thanks!!

For those of you who might visit Hamilton sometime, here are some pictures of some lesser known shopping districts in older parts of the city, where you can get unique stuff, as opposed to generic big box shopping.

IMHO, the Delta is Hamilton's most disadvantaged area. The unfortunate thing is, you've got to drive through the Delta to basically get to the other side of Hamilton. I think this is one of the reasons so many people think Hamilton is such a shithole, when really, it's not. Its nice spots are just somewhat out of the way.
