Iran: German, Chinese Firms Win FTZ Projects

TEHRAN: A German firm has won the project to develop the Abadan International Airport, said the managing director of Arvand Free Trade Zone Organization here on Sunday.
According to IRIBNews, Mohammad Reza Abbasi said Germany's flag carrier Lufthansa has undertaken to draw up a comprehensive plan to improve the airports cargo transport facilities, storage of goods and passenger travel site. He said the contract was signed with the German party on Saturday, but refused to be drawn into the financial details of the project.
Also on Sunday, it was announced that the Chinese investors will invest $75 million in industrial projects in the Arvand Free Trade Zone.
The Chinese are expected to make the investment in the projects to build factories for manufacturing home appliances, foodstuff and vehicles, including motorcycles and bicycles, which will be implemented in a 33-hectare area at the industrial site of the zone. The projects would create jobs for 5,000 people, local officials said.
